Hey y’all-hope you’ve had a good week. It’s hard to believe we are at the midpoint of October already! With autumn in full force, I want to share some fall makeup inspiration. Today’s post features my top fall lip colors, all with clean ingredients. I realize that with spending additional time at home, makeup might not be a priority some days. And when you do go out, wearing a mask covers it up. Nevertheless, I have found that I still enjoy putting on a full face of makeup some days, even if I’m only going to the Starbucks drive-thru. So, I hope you enjoy this fall lip color inspiration for upcoming Zoom meetings, virtual happy hours, socially distanced gatherings, and drive-thru excursions!
Using clean beauty products is very important to me. Therefore, all the fall lip colors included in this post have clean ingredients. Most are from Beautycounter, my favorite clean makeup brand. Did you know that color cosmetics can contain heavy metals, including lead, that are neurotoxins? Companies don’t intentionally add these metals to their lipsticks, so you won’t see them in the ingredient list. However, trace amounts naturally occur due to the sourcing process of pigment-producing materials. Beautycounter triple tests all batches of color cosmetics before they hit shelves to make sure they don’t contain unsafe trace amounts of heavy metals. Although I am a Beautycounter consultant, I genuinely love the products, and I love their mission even more! (For more on why I switched to clean beauty products, check out this post.)

The Color Intense Lipstick in 9 to 5 is the very first Beautycounter makeup item I tried. It actually came in my Beautycounter consultant kit. Beautycounter’s Color Intense Lipstick formula features long lasting color. I will reapply after meals, but don’t feel the need to reapply constantly throughout the day. It also has an amazing peppermint taste. The 9 to 5 shade complements fall outfits so well, particularly Clemson orange!
A few months ago Beautycounter released a new and improved sheer lipstick formula. The Sheer Genius Conditioning Lipstick is creamy and with great payoff. It’s also moisturizing and has an amazing vanilla flavor. Even better, the vanilla is ethically sourced. You can read more here about why ethically sourced vanilla is such a big deal. The Sheer Genius Conditioning Lipstick is my favorite of Beautycounter’s lip formula. The Rosewood shade is a perfect nude fall lip color.
ILIA Beauty is my second favorite clean makeup brand. When I had a $15 Nordstrom Note valid for a limited time window, I decided to try some ILIA Beauty lipstick. The Cinnabar shade is perfect for fall. The application and color payoff of the ILIA Color Block lipstick is wonderful, plus it features clean ingredients. However, it has a more typical “lipstick” taste, so I prefer Beautycounter lipstick due to their amazing flavors. I still recommend the ILIA Beauty Color Block Lipstick. You can find ILIA Beauty products at Sephora, Nordstrom, and directly on their website.
Beautycounter originally introduced the Amber Shimmer lip gloss as part of their Mini Lip Gloss Vault during last year’s holiday collection. Then they added it as a permanent color when they revamped their lip gloss formula this summer. Beautycounter lip gloss feels amazing on your lips and is not sticky. The new lip gloss formula also contains ethically sourced vanilla. Amber Shimmer has a bit of sparkle in it, which is so fun!
(Note that this packaging is from last year’s holiday mini lip gloss vault)
Clove is another Beautycounter lip gloss shade that debuted in last year’s holiday line, and then re-emerged as part of the standard shade line-up in the new & improved lip gloss formula. A warm beige, Clove is the perfect neutral shade for someone who wants just a touch of color on their lips.

The final fall lip color I want to highlight is Beautycounter Lip Gloss in Brulee. This beige shimmer shade is the perfect neutral with a some sparkle. I don’t know about you, but I think sparkles makes everything a little more fun! Brulee is also a Holiday 2019 lip gloss shade that is now part of Beautycounter’s permanent line.
