ANNOUNCEMENT TIME: I’m taking a social media break! Starting around 9:00pm EST on Saturday, January 16, 2021, I am going to be signing off for at least the remainder of January! ◽️

I’ve never done this before, especially not since I started blogging. As much as I enjoy the connections I’ve made here on the ‘gram, I also waste wayyy too much time scrolling when I could be doing other things that will benefit me more in the long run. Plus it’s so easy to fall into the comparison trap, so some time away to detox will help with that temptation. ◽️

It’s definitely going to be weird spending some time away from here, but to be honest I’m really looking forward to the time it’s going to open up to be more present and productive in other areas of my life. 😊
.
However, I’m not going completely off the grid. I will still be posting a new blog post each week on palmettosandpineapples.com, and I will be sending out some e-newsletters. My Facebook memories reminded me of this blog post featuring words of wisdom from Dabo Swinney that I wrote exactly one year ago! It was edifying for me to go back and read some advice I shared based on Dabo’s advice. I’ve linked this post in my bio if you want to go back and read it 😊

Next month I will celebrate three years of blogging. One of the biggest blogging lessons I’ve learned in the past year is that I’m not for everyone, and that’s okay. Even though I don’t worry about the opinions of others as much as I used to, I would be lying to myself and to y’all if I said this concern was completely obsolete. However, as time goes on, I continue to gain more self-confidence and am able to not give criticism from those who don’t really matter the headspace I once would have. ☺️
.
I think the keys to growth in this area have been:
1) Remembering that my identity is in Jesus, and it’s ultimately only His opinion that matters. As long as I’m doing His will, it really doesn’t matter what others think.
2) Remembering that there are way more people who support me and have my back than there are people who give non-constructive criticism simply to be negative. ◽️
.
Whether you’re an OG follower or just started following along this week, thanks for being in my corner! And I strive to be in your corner as I inspire you to appreciate life’s simple joys and encourage you to be vulnerable in your struggles 💗

Hope y’all had a good first Monday of 2021! Have you shopped the @lillypulitzer After Party Sale yet?! I grabbed a Luxletic Skort and two scrunchies first thing this morning. There’s still lots of great stuff left, but I’m cutting myself off because I just paid for a breast MRI (which was luckily clear), and I have some expensive dental work coming up. Hello adulting 😩

Spent most of my Christmas break in my new @lillyp

Spent most of my Christmas break in my new @lillypulitzer pajama pants in Lilly’s Favorite Things! I treated myself to these shortly before Christmas. Although it was weird not going to the traditional Christmas Eve Moravian Lovefeast I usually attend with family friends, I’m thankful I still I got to eat a Moravian Love Bun and watch an online recording of the service while wearing these Lilly pajama pants. How to Beat the Post-Christmas Blues: Keep watching Christmas movies and eating Christmas treats and enjoying Christmas decor until New Year’s! 🌲

Back when I was younger I used to be so sad on December 26, when all the presents were opened and Christmas Day was an entire year away. As an adult, I have an entirely different approach. I keep the festivities going the entire week between Christmas and New Year’s. After all, Hallmark Channel is showing Christmas movies until January 2, which means I’m still going to watch. And let’s be honest-there’s simply not enough time to do all the Christmas-y things before Christmas Day! Who’s with me?! 💚❤️
.
Also, this picture is a pretty accurate depiction of what I will be doing on New Year’s Eve! Are any other introvert homebody’s actually glad that there aren’t many events and gatherings for New Year’s Eve this year?! I always struggle with New Year’s because I feel like I should be going somewhere with people, but I would really rather stay in and wear comfy clothes on the couch while watching movies and New Year’s Rockin’ Eve on ABC! Plus being on the road after midnight to go home on New Year’s always gives me anxiety. And since I’m usually driving, I can’t even have a whole glass of champagne at midnight anyways if I’m going to be leaving soon after. So basically, I’m really glad to have a good excuse to stay in on New Years Eve this year 😂 Although last year I actually stayed in on New Year’s Eve as well because it was what I wanted to do. And it felt very empowering to just do what I felt like without feeling pressure to go out only so I wouldn’t be “lame.” ▫️

Who else prefers to stay in on New Year’s even when there’s not a pandemic?!
