ICYMI, the @lillypulitzer Sunshine Sale (formerly After Party Sale) starts online at 8:00am EST on Tuesday, September 12 and runs through 11:59pm EST on Thursday, September 14! This is Lilly’s biggest sale, with most items at least 50% off (and some discounts even steeper). Plus it only happens twice a year, so if you love Lilly you definitely want to check it out! One of my go-to pieces in recent sales is Lilly Luxletic Skorts. I love Lilly athletic skorts for loungewear and casual outings during the spring and summer, but I can’t justify paying full price!

The Lilly Pulitzer Luxletic Skort I’m wearing here was actually a purchase in the last Sunshine Sale! I love the lavender color scheme because it’s a little bit different from any of my other athletic skorts. It was perfect to wear for a casual breakfast out during my girls’ beach trip a few weeks ago!

On this gloomy rainy Saturday in Durham, I’m thinking about how thankful I am to have ended my summer by spending 3 out of the last 4 weekends with perfect weather in my Happy Place! And one of those weekends I read @emilyhenrywrites “Happy Place” in my happy place! 😎

I read her latest novel, “The Summer of Songbirds” over Labor Day Weekend, and it might be one of my favorites out of her books (and I’ve read 9 out of 10 of her novels)! I liked that some characters from her previous novels made brief cameos as well!

August seemed to last two days, didn’t it! It was a great month, and one highlight was visiting the @hellokittycafetruck once again when it came to Durham! This was my fourth visit to the truck within the past 18 months, so I already had most of the merch that I wanted. However, I did get a cute ringer tee that was a new addition to their menu! Visiting the truck is worth it for the photo opp alone! 😻

What was something fun that you did in August?

I can’t believe that summer is coming to a close! As much as I look forward to the festivities and traditions of the “ber” months that end the year, summer will always be my favorite and it’s always a little bittersweet to see it go!

I may already be getting emails about Halloween, but it’s still endless summer around here! Although I love fall, I soak up every last bit of summer through Labor Day! Plus it doesn’t even start to feel remotely like fall in NC until late September!

I’m excited to close out summer with multiple weekend beach trips. This pic is from my week-long beach trip last month. Lilly Pulitzer Luxletic skorts are my go-to for both casual outings and lounging around my place during the summer. This @lillypulitzer skort and a basic @gap white tank was perfect for grabbing lunch at @fishhutgrill, one of our favorite Emerald Isle restaurants! And my Orange Crush cocktail matched my @katespadeny orange pendant necklace I got on sale several years ago 🍊

Also, I finally hopped on the @lululemon belt bag craze. I got mine in-store, but it’s finally easier to get them online!

I learned that today is National Kitten Day, so I

I learned that today is National Kitten Day, so I figured it was the perfect time to feature Clove and Paprika on my feed! 🐱🐱

If you watch my stories regularly, then you know that a month ago my parents adopted two kittens a month ago. Clove is the gray tabby, and Paprika is the tabico (tabby/calico) combo. They are sisters, and are part of a litter of five that was rescued by @kellyfosterkittens shortly after they were born. The whole litter was given “spice” names by their foster mom, and so kept the original names because we thought they were cute! 😸

Although Clove and Paprika don’t live with me, I didn’t have any role in picking them out, and I won’t live with them for extended periods of time the way I did with Blizzard and Timex, I still love them so much! And since getting a cat that is completely my own simply isn’t the best fit for me right now for various reasons, I’m so thankful I have these two furry feline siblings to love! Clove and Paprika have only been part of the family for a month, but they’ve already brought us so much joy! And they’ve been a much-needed bright spot for me in my current tough season of life. ❤️

It’s been 19 years since we’ve had kittens in the family, and I had forgotten how tiny and playful they are! 😸

Getting new pets after a loss is never a replacement for a deceased pet, but rather an opportunity to love a new pet with its own unique quirks and personalities. Passing along that love to new pets in need of a home is a great way to honor the memory of pets who have crossed the rainbow bridge. I know that Blizzard and Timex are looking down from kitty heaven happy that we have opened our hearts to another pair of feline friends. 😻 And by adopting Clove & Paprika, we have given the @kellyfosterkittens space and resources to save more kittens. And what a great way to honor the two original kitties we adopted this month 19 years ago! 😻

Afternoon tea at The Carolina Inn with @abyersguide and @rose_cullered_lens! So glad all three of us could get together in person before @abyersguide moves halfway across the country in a little over a month!
And fun fact: @rose_cullered_lens was coworkers with one of my favorite high school teachers for several years until he retired two years ago. I didn’t go to the high school where Beth currently teaches, but a couple years after I graduated my former AP European history teacher moved to a different school in a neighboring county, where Beth was a student and then returned to teach years later. It’s so much fun when Insta friends become IRL friends, and extra fun when there’s a cool small world connection like this.

I’ve done afternoon tea at @thecarolinainn several times, and highly recommend it for a girls’ afternoon out. You get to choose your tea flavor and get a whole pot, and you get an assortment of sweet and savory snacks that are filling!

And I always love an excuse to wear my @lillypulitzer Sun hat that was a gift with purchase 10 years ago!
