Definitely didn’t feel like the first day of spring in NC today, so felt like this Lilly Pulitzer quote was especially fitting! Instead of wearing a @lillypulitzer sundress, I have been bundled up all day. Here’s to hoping it will warm up for good soon! 😎

In addition to warmer temperatures, another thing I love about spring is that it’s a time of renewal and rebirth after a cold dark winter. I feel like many things in my life have been in a season of figurative winter that’s lasted far longer than three months. However, this quote from Lilly reminds me that perspective is everything, and despite how life’s circumstances might be unfolding, live like it’s “spring.” This doesn’t mean you can’t grieve and lament unfulfilled desires, delayed dreams, and difficult circumstances. But grieving with hope is a game-changer. And as a believer in Jesus, I have to constantly remind myself that there is so much going on behind the scenes, and that the Lord is working on my behalf even when I can’t see it! 💗!

So here’s to entering a new season with a renewed trust in the Lord to make all things new, and to make a way in the wilderness! 💗

Y’all, American Girl was one of the defining parts of my childhood! My entire Christmas list and birthday lists from about 1992-1997 consisted of items from the Pleasant Company catalogue. When I added an American Girl of Today doll to my collection for Christmas 1995, the Girl of Today line had just launched when I got mine. And as of less than two weeks ago, there are now American Girl 1999 HISTORICAL Dolls 😮! That’s right, Isabel & Nikki are younger than my childhood Girl of TODAY doll 😂. Even though I was born in 1985, I consider myself more of a 90s kid, because I was too young to remember most of the 80s! And I was only one year old in 1986 when Courtney Moore (80s historical doll) books were set. Therefore, the release of 90s historical girls Nikki & Isabel really hits me in a “goodness I’m old” way that the release of 80s historical girl Courtney didn’t quite reach!

With American Girl briefly re-releasing the original six historical dolls for their 35th anniversary almost two years ago and the resurgence of interest in American Girl on social media/ online communities among millennials like myself, I’ve been rekindling my interest in American Girl! I don’t intend to become a full-fledged adult collector like many of the #agig community. But I did buy a 35th anniversary Felicity and Samantha (since hair of my childhood Samantha has seen better days) back in 2021, and lately I’ve gotten a few of the accessories sets from the 80s and 90s historical lines with childhood nostalgia—think Care Bears, Book-It!, and character lunchboxes with matching thermoses! 😂 And just this past week I dug my “once modern” 90s American Girl doll out of storage from my parents. Cheers to the weekend and to March! I love March because it means warmer weather, the official start of spring, and MARCH MADNESS! Here’s to hoping my Tar Heels can have a great month of basketball despite struggling and not living up to expectations for much of the season. However, one thing the Heels showed me last year is that the struggles of January and February don’t define your March! I think this is a great analogy not just for basketball, but for life! My January and February had some good moments, but they also had some of the same struggles and feelings of “stuck-ness” carried over from 2022. However, I have to remind myself that that the past two months don’t necessarily indicate what’s to come this month and the rest of the year! 😊

So here’s to great things to come in March, hopefully starting off with a UNC win over Duke this weekend! 🐏

And that’s a wrap on February! A couple of highlights included being treated to dinner at @thecarolinainn while sharing their lobby refresh, and adding a new pair of @sarahflint_nyc shoes to my collection! 💗

My newest pair of Sarah Flint shoes actually arrived the same day I went to The Carolina Inn, so I wore them out for dinner that night! This particular style is the Sacchetto Ballet Flat in Petal Nappa! I actually have the Sacchetto in two other colors, but this petal color really makes me feel like I’m wearing actual ballet slippers! I never took ballet growing up, but always thought it would be fun. So these shoes are a way I can live out my aspiring ballerina fantasies 🩰 Pairing these with a black dress and cream tights added some additional ballerina vibes to this outfit! Fun fact: actual pointe shoes were the inspiration behind the Sacchetto flat, and when Sarah Flint first released this style two years ago they did a collaboration with the American Ballet Theatre! If you have a narrow foot like me, you will want to size down a half size in the Sacchetto. And you can save $50 on your first pair of Sarah Flints with code SARAHFLINT-BALIZS. 😊

One of my favorite purchases from early 2023 is my @lillypulitzer popover in their @disneyparks print! 🐭 Despite wearing Lilly Pulitzer for years, I didn’t own one of their popovers until now. I now see what all the hype about Lilly popovers is, and this won’t be my last Lilly popover! They’re great for being comfy while still looking cute and put together! 😊

The Lilly Loves Disney popover is still available on ShopDisney in sizes XXS-Medium. It fits true to size, but I sized up to a medium for a looser fit! (I typically wear an extra small.) This popover will be great for the transition into spring with warm days and cool nights! 😊
.
All the other clothes in the Lilly Pulitzer Disney print, plus the backpack and wristlet, are currently available on ShopDisney as well! I got the Buttercup shorts, backpack, and Etta V-Neck top during the original Lilly x Disney launch almost a year ago, and then went back for the wristlet and this popover after the restock on ShopDisney a few months ago! Trying to restrain myself from buying the Kristen Dress too, because this print is perfection and I discovered after the most recent Lilly sale that I love that style! I’ve linked all the Lilly Loves Disney styles in my LTK shop! 💗

I do wish Lilly Loves Disney had come in a scarf, pajama pants, and a Luxletic skort. But for the sake of my bank account, it’s a good thing it didn’t 😂. Maybe Lilly will make these styles if they do another Disney print! 🐭

One of the highlights of my winter has been my new Nespresso Vertuo Next machine and Aeroccino milk frother! It’s upped my at-home coffee game big time! And I’m pleased that I’ve figured out the optimal ratio of espresso pods to steamed milk to make a great tasting latte at home. (At first I was adding 8 ounces of milk to just a single espresso pod, and it tasted way too milky, haha!) I haven’t quite figured out how to make a good cafe mocha at home though, so I will leave that to Starbucks for the time being! I’m not intending for my Nespresso to completely replace Starbucks runs anyways! Although I enjoy making lattes at home so much now that I haven’t gone to Starbucks at all the past two weekends. In the past, I’ve typically gotten Starbucks at least one day of each weekend!

In addition, my Nespresso Vertuo Next makes a great basic cup of coffee too. So much better than Keurig! Nespresso pods are more expensive than K-Cups, but the quality is so much better, which makes the additional cost worth it. And it’s still less than going to a coffee shop for a cup of drip coffee!

I’ve tried quite a few of the Nespresso Vertuo pods so far, but I’d love to hear what your favorites are if you’re a Nespresso Vertuo user! 😊

Can’t believe February is almost over. It’s crazy how quickly the first two months of 2023 have flown by! As much as some people love how a new year brings a fresh start, January + February will always be my least favorite stretch of the year. The holidays are over, and it’s cold and blah! Although the post-holiday blues really got me back in January, February has had some really sweet moments! One of them was enjoying a gorgeous walk through UNC’s campus with my dad and brother after the Carolina women’s basketball game last weekend. We passed the Old Well right as the sun was setting. The sunset was especially gorgeous that night, so I had to snap some pics! Be sure to swipe to the second pic, as the colors in that one are essentially gorgeous! 💙

Also, figured a shot of UNC’s campus was appropriate to post tonight, as Carolina men’s basketball got a much-needed win over UVA! Here’s to hoping they can finish strong and make the NCAA tourney next month, despite not living up to preseason expectations. 🐏

I recently got this Little Golden Books boxed set

I recently got this Little Golden Books boxed set commemorating the Disney 100! It features 12 Disney Little Golden Books, including “Mickey Mouse’s Picnic.” This classic was reprinted specifically for this boxed set. I distinctly remember this book from my childhood. Before I even received this boxed set, the catchy “what a wonderful day for a picnic, what a wonderful day for lark” refrain came rushing back into my head. Then when I got the book and re-read it, the other details of the plot that I had forgotten about over the years quickly became familiar once more. I remember as a kid thinking the chocolate cake Minnie Mouse made for the picnic looked so delicious, and the same is true as an adult! 😋🍫 🍰

“Mickey Mouse’s Picnic” alone makes this collector’s set worth it, but the other 11 books are also great. It includes 101 Dalmatians, one of my favorite Disney movies! Swipe to see some more of the titles in this set! 😊

The box is made out of the same linen-like material of a coffee table book. No flimsy paper or cardboard box!

I love coffee table books and am a firm believer that you can never have too many! Thus, my favorite detail of @thecarolinainn lobby refresh when I visited a few weeks ago was the various coffee table books! They definitely give the lobby an extra touch of homey-ness and make it feel more like you’re in someone’s living room rather than a hotel! 😊
