No Buy Style Challenge: Printed Spring Dress

Hey y’all-hope your week is off to a good start. I got Starbucks for the first time in two months the other day, so that’s a highlight! Some restrictions are starting to loosen in North Carolina as we are in Phase One of reopening, but I’m still being very cautious. Knowing the employees were wearing masks put me at ease for sure! I’m also excited that this week brings the second installment of the No Buy Style Challenge that I’m doing with some fellow bloggers: Brita, Callie, and Charlene. May brings some printed spring dress inspiration!

In case you missed the first installment of the No Buy Style Challenge, here’s how it works: Each month, one of us sends the other three an inspiration photo featuring us wearing a favorite outfit. Then the other three bloggers put together their own looks inspired by the original photo. The only rule is that all bloggers’ recreated looks must consist entirely of pieces already in their closet. We hope that this series encourages y’all to have fun shopping your own closet to create brand new looks. As much as I enjoy shopping, it’s definitely neither necessary nor financially responsible for me to buy a completely new wardrobe every couple years!

No Buy Style Challenge Round 2

It was my turn to provide the inspiration photo for May, so I went with one of my spring staples-a classic printed Lilly Pulitzer shift dress! This particular style is called the “Liz Shift,” so naturally I had to get it back when it came out several years ago. Also, the pink & green print makes it quintessential Lilly.

Printed Lilly Pulitzer Shift Dress

I’ve been wearing my Lilly Pulitzer pajama pants way more than my Lilly shift dresses this spring during work from home and quarantine life. However, Lilly shift dresses are traditionally one of my favorite things to wear during the warm weather months, because they make getting ready a breeze. All I have to do is quickly throw on my shift dress, add some jewelry staples like my Kendra Scott Elisa Pendant and Sheila Fajl hoops, slip on some Jack Rogers sandals, and I’m out the door!

I’m very thankful that my office isn’t super formal, so I can get away with wearing fun Lilly prints to work. Thus Lilly shifts with a cardigan are a cornerstone of my spring/summer work wardrobe. I also wear my Lilly shifts to church, meals out with friends, parties, and other events. They are so versatile for warm weather. As much as I love lounging around in my Lilly pajamas, I hope that my Lilly Pulitzer shifts will eventually get some wear this summer once it’s safe and healthy to gather in groups again!

More Printed Spring Dress Inspiration

Now that I’ve shared a little bit about why I love the versatility of my Lilly shift dresses, take a look at my blogger friends’ posts to see their take on my printed spring dress inspiration with pieces already in their closet:

I loved seeing how they got creative with pulling together their own looks based on my inspiration photo. Once again, the point of this challenge isn’t necessarily to duplicate outfits. So if you’re reading a blog post and see an outfit you like, you can totally come up with your own version from your closet, even if the style, colors, and brand aren’t the exact same!

I did guess right on your shoes! In my post I mentioned your classic/preppy style, and I said those sandals look like Jack Rogers.

This is a really cute outfit. I am also wearing more lounge clothes than Lilly dresses, but I also have some loose-fitting Marleylilly dresses that I like to wear with leggings. It’s my favorite outfit for cool spring days, which are surprisingly still here!
