Hey y’all-hope you have a safe and healthy 4th of July holiday! I know coronavirus and the ongoing racial unrest made the holiday a bit different this year. But I’m still thankful to live in America, and I’m praying that one day soon this will truly be a land of liberty and justice for all. Anyways, this week’s blog post is the final installment of the No Buy Style Challenge series I’m doing with some blogger friends. To refresh your memory, here’s how it works: One blogger provides an outfit inspiration photo. Then the rest of us come up with our own outfit based on the original photo. There’s lots of freedom for interpretation-the only rule is that you can’t buy anything new! You must “shop your closet” using clothing and accessories you already own!
This Month’s Inspiration
This month, Callie from Hot Pink and Glitter provided the inspiration photo. She described this bright and colorful leopard print dress as “Lisa Frank-inspired.” I love leopard print and colorful clothing, so this was a fun inspiration photo to use to create my own look.
My Summer Neon Inspired Outfit
As much as I adore leopard print, all of my leopard print items are long-sleeved, which means no good for summer in the South. And none of my leopard print items are quite as colorful as Callie’s dress anyways. So I went with the summer neon vibe in pulling together my outfit based on Callie’s inspiration photo! I grabbed my brightest pair of printed Lilly Pulitzer shorts, which I’ve actually had for seven years. As I’ve mentioned before, I love the timelessness of Lilly! Then I paired it with a neon Disney World vintage logo t-shirt that complements the colors in the shorts. To add a touch of animal print plus even more neon, I accessorized with this hot pink Lilly headband in the Tusk in Sun elephant print. Dainty stud earrings, my Anthropologie initial necklace, and my Tory Burch Miller sandals complete the ensemble!
How the Others Styled It
It’s fun to see what other bloggers come up with from their own closets using the same inspiration photo. So check out how these two lovely women styled Callie’s look:
Brita from BelleBritaBlog
Charlene from Enduring All Things
And of course, don’t forget to check out Callie’s blog post here.
I hope that you have enjoyed this “No Buy Style Challenge” series and that it encouraged you to get creative with shopping your closet. As much as I love shopping for clothes, it’s totally possible and also fun to pull together new looks with items you already own!
