My Top Picks for 2018 Swimwear

Wow y’all-it’s so hard to believe Memorial Day is only three weeks from today. Is it just me, or is 2018 flying by? Anyways, even though the Summer Solstice isn’t until June 21, I still consider Memorial Day weekend the kick-off to summer. I am super excited to be heading to the beach for the first time since Labor Day. This will be the first of many summer beach trips for me. I actually have several bathing suits from previous seasons that I love and that are still in good condition. So I won’t be doing a ton of swimsuit shopping this summer. However, in the spirit of summer’s impending arrival, I thought I would share some of my top picks for 2018 swimwear from some of my favorite brands.

Traditionally, my favorite places to shop for swimwear have been TJ Maxx, Target, Old Navy, and J.Crew Factory. I also love my Lauren James bathing suits, but unfortunately they are no longer doing a swimwear line.

TJ Maxx & Jessica Simpson

One of my favorite bathing suits ever is this gingham seersucker ruffle halter bikini top I found at TJ Maxx a few years ago. It is by Jessica Simpson. Of course TJ Maxx varies with what they have in stock, but it’s definitely worth checking out their swimwear section because you never know what you might find! I paid less than $20 for this Jessica Simpson bikini top that probably would have been $50-60 if I had gone to Macy’s or Belk! Plus seersucker & gingham combined is a preppy girl’s dream!

If you don’t have the patience to sift through bathing suits at your local TJ Maxx, here are some of my favorites from Jessica Simpson’s 2018 swimwear line:

Love the sweet scallop detail and pastel color on this one!

If you’re loving the gingham on my Jessica Simpson bikini top I found at TJ Maxx a few years ago, you’re in luck because her 2018 swimwear collection has a gingham bikini with modest coverage!

Target

Good ole Target has been one of my favorite places to buy swimsuits for several years now. The options are very budget friendly (a top or bottom is typically under $30), and the quality is great. My Target swimsuits have definitely lasted more than one season. Plus the Mossimo brand side-tie bottoms from Target are my favorite. I am very particular about how my bikini bottoms fit. I want them to have adequate coverage in the back, and not too tight in the waist. Here are some more of my favorites from Target’s 2018 swimwear selection:

I love a bandeau top, and the stripes are classic. Plus the bottoms provide adequate coverage.
Top  //  Bottoms

Target always has great options for solid color suits as well. Here’s another suit with scallop detail. I prefer the scallop bikini bottoms over the high-waisted bottoms with this particular top.

J.Crew Factory

Here’s a swimsuit I bought from J.Crew Factory last summer. I ordered it online and it fit perfectly, which was amazing. And of course I love a suit with a fruity print, especially watermelon!

2018 swimwear

No worries that this particular suit is no longer available, because J.Crew Factory still has some great options for this season.

This style is similar to my watermelon suit. If you go to the website, there are more color options. I like that the top provides a triangle top look, but with more coverage.

I love the ruffle detail on this suit from J.Crew Factory’s 2018 swimwear line.

Old Navy

Old Navy is another one of my favorite options for cute, budget-friendly swimsuits.

I love the fun ruffle flounce top, and polka dots are always a good idea. Y’all have probably figured out by now that I’m not neither a fan of skimpy string bottoms nor high-waisted bottoms. I prefer a hip=hugging modest coverage bottom.

Classic Preppy

This seersucker ruffle bikini is one of my favorite Lauren James swimsuits. I really wish she still had a swimwear line, because it was the cutest. But I have linked a few other classic preppy swimwear options below. PS. Peep my Clemson tiger rag!

I’m loving this seersucker ruffle bikini from Vineyard Vines. The top is super similar to my Lauren James one.
Top  //  Bottoms

I’m leaving y’all with this Vineyard Vines whale patchwork print bikini as one final preppy option. I’m especially loving this season’s Vineyard Vines suits. Bonus-these bottoms are reversible!

Side note-if you prefer a one-piece suit, both J.Crew Factory and Jessica Simpson have some adorable options. Click here for my favorite from J.Crew Factory, and here for my favorite from Jessica Simpson.

I hope this post has been helpful to those of y’all who are still swimsuit shopping for upcoming summer vacations or pool days. Where are you most looking forward to wearing a bathing suit this summer? Also, if you end up buying any of these options, I’d love to hear how they work out for you!
