My Thoughts on Beautycounter Products I’ve Tried So Far

Hey y’all! Hop you’re having a great week. Almost two weeks ago I shared why I became a Beautycounter consultant, as well as the products that came in my enrollment kit and my first order. I wanted to check back in today and update y’all because I’ve actually had a chance to use the products. In addition, I placed an additional order after my previous Beautycounter post. I received this second order last week, and have used most of those products as well. Keep reading for my thoughts on Beautycounter products I’ve tried so far. Spoiler alert- I’m loving almost everything! I will also share a few products on my wish list, as well as how you can potentially earn free or discounted Beautycounter products.

Overnight Resurfacing Peel

I briefly alluded to the Beautycounter Overnight Resurfacing Peel in my previous post. Now that I’ve had the opportunity to use it several times, I can say that I love it! This peel contains resurfacing and soothing acids that are intended to improve your skin’s appearance while you sleep. If dullness is a concern for you, then you will want to give this Beautycounter peel a try. It also helps minimize pores, dark spots, and fine lines. I can say that my skin seems to have an extra glow the next morning whenever I use it. As awesome as this peel is though, you are only supposed to use it 3-4 nights a week. You can shop the Overnight Resurfacing Peel here. It also comes in a travel size, which you can shop here.

Color Intense Lipstick

To be honest, I’ve never really considered myself a makeup junkie. Although I wear it, I didn’t get super excited about trying new makeup. However, Beautycounter is changing that. I am absolutely obsessed with their Color Intense lipstick. A tube of the “9 to 5” shade came in my consultant kit. Once I realized how amazing this lipstick is, I ordered the Color Intense Lipstick Duo. This set of two lipsticks gives you about $20 savings compared to if you bought two tubes separately. The two colors it features are “Boardwalk” (a beige nude) and “Sunset” (a warm pink). Both of these colors are versatile and will flatter a variety of skin tones. I highly recommend the Color Intense Lipstick Duo to get the most bang for your buck if you want to get started using Beautycounter lipstick.

Citrus Mimosa Body Products

I mentioned in my previous post that I ordered the Body Essentials Travel Size Set that includes the Citrus Mimosa body bar, body wash, hand cream, and body lotion. I’ve used everything in this set except the body bar, and I’m loving it. The Citrus Mimosa scent is free from harmful artificial fragrances, and it reminds me of the lemon-flavored lollipops I would get at the bank as a kid. I know that sounds weird, but I mean it in a good way. I ordered the full size Citrus Mimosa body wash in my second order, and I will eventually order the full size body lotion, after I use up more of my current lotions.

Note that switching to cleaner products doesn’t necessarily have to involve immediately trashing everything in your bathroom cabinets. It can simply be gradually replacing things with cleaner options as you run out of your not-so-clean products.

Volume & Shape Shampoo and Conditioner

I also ordered the Beautycounter Volume & Shape Shampoo and Conditioner in my second batch of products, because I wanted to give safer hair care a try. Awhile back I had read that shampoos containing sulfates aren’t the best for your hair, because they can be drying and damaging. Although dryness isn’t an issue at my roots, I need to take protective measures to minimize split ends since my hair is so long. When I’ve tried sulfate free shampoos in the past, I’ve found that they have not gotten my hair clean. I decided to give the Beautycounter sulfate free shampoo a try, and I’m so glad I did. This stuff lathers and gets my greasy roots clean WITHOUT damaging sulfates. It also has a nice refreshing smell, but free of artificial fragrance, of course. I like the conditioner as well, but as with all conditioner I have to be careful not to use too much. Shop the Volume & Shape shampoo here, and the Volume & Shape conditioner here.

Showers feel so much cleaner when I know my shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are free from harmful ingredients.

Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer

I’m also really liking Beautycounter Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer. I haven’t worn full-fledged foundation in years, but I do like a lightweight face makeup that helps even out skin tone a bit. Beautycounter Dew Skin does the trick, plus it moisturizes and has SPF 20. I know I’ve mentioned this before, but wearing SPF on your face daily, regardless of whether you will be outside, is my top anti-aging skincare tip. Beautycounter Dew Skin also contains Vitamin C, which helps brighten your skin. I definitely feel like my face is more radiant when I am wearing this. You can shop Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer here.

Beautycounter products I've tried

Mineral Sunscreen Stick

Although Dew Skin is great for serving as a moisturizer and daily SPF, I like to opt for something stronger if I’m going to be spending most of the day outside, particularly at the pool or beach. The Beautycounter Mineral Sunscreen stick is a zinc oxide sunscreen with SPF 30. It goes on smoothly and doesn’t leave any white residue. I used it yesterday when I was out by the pool for several hours, and it did the job of protecting my face! In addition, it’s very easy to apply, and super portable to throw in your bag. This stick is very small, so I would recommend only using on your face. Otherwise you will go through it really quickly. Shop the Mineral Sunscreen Stick here.

Nourishing Eye Cream

The Nourishing Eye Cream is Beautycounter’s basic eye cream. I actually haven’t used eye cream in about a year, so this is definitely as step above my previous regimen. The nourishing eye cream absorbs quickly and moisturizes your eye area, and I like it just fine. However, when I’m ready to order more eye cream, I’m going to try Beautycounter’s Countermatch Eye Rescue Cream, which is supposed to target dark circles. Shop the Nourishing Eye Cream here.

Countercontrol Cleanser and Toner

I also got the Countercontrol Clear Pore Cleanser, and Countercontrol Instant Matte Toner. These are from Beautycounter’s Countercontrol line, which is designed for oily and blemish prone skin. I don’t have major breakouts, but my skin is on the oily side, and I still get random blemishes here and there. So I decided I wanted to give the Countercontrol line a try. I love that both the cleanser and toner have a light citrus smell. It’s very refreshing, and makes washing my face fun. Since I don’t have significant acne, I can’t really say that there’s been a drastic difference in my skin. But I like both the cleanser and toner and plan to continue using them.

Smooth & Control Hair Oil

The Smooth & Control Hair Oil is honestly the only Beautycounter product I’ve tried so far that I’m really not sure about and am thinking of returning. It has eight different oils plus Vitamin E, intended to nourish your hair and protect from heat styling damage. However, it makes my hair look really greasy and weighed down at the ends, even when I only apply a small amount as instructed. And I honestly wonder how much good a small amount is even doing to make my hair healthier. However, if I used more, my hair will look even greasier. This might be better for someone who has super coarse curly hair. But I don’t think it’s the best for my fine straight hair, and will be searching for a different safer leave-in hair treatment.

Beautycounter Products I Want to Try Soon

Now that I’ve shared my thoughts on the Beautycounter products I’ve tried so far, I wanted to give a quick list of products I’m hoping to try soon:

Satin Powder Blush
Sheer Lipstick (have my eye on a light pink shade especially)
No. 3 Balancing Facial Oil
Countercontrol Spot Acne Treatment
Countercontrol Matte Effect Gel Cream
Velvet Eyeshadow Palette
Sugar Body Scrub
