Stoney Clover Lane Mickey & Friends Pouches
The Stoney Clover Lane Hello Kitty pouch I purchased on sale from the Sanrio website in March and the Stoney Clover Lane x Target collaboration in April piqued my interest in the brand. So in May, I received my first purchase directly from the Stoney Clover Lane website. I had admired the Stoney Clover Lane Mickey & Friends prints for awhile, and in my first order I got the mini pouch in the Friends Forever print, and the small pouch in the Dynamic Duo print. Then later in the month when I saw that the Ultimate Pair mini pouch was back in stock, I ordered it. The gold zippers on the Stoney Clover Lane Mickey & Friends pouches have the Stoney Clover Lane logo on one side, and a Mickey silhouette on the other side.
I use my Dynamic Duo small pouch to hold some of my favorite small Disney memorabilia, such as stickers and pins. The mini pouches are great for holding miscellaneous items in my purse. I usually have one in my daily handbag at all times to hold lipstick, compact mirror, and hand cream.
A look inside my very first package purchased directly from Stoney Clover Lane. I absolutely love the presentation!
Stoney Clover Lane Hello Kitty Customized Mini Pouch
When I placed my first Stoney Clove Lane order, I also got a mini pouch customized with a Hello Kitty patch. Being able to customize pouches and totes with patches is what Stoney Clover Lane is well known for. (I will do another blog post in the future with more details about Stoney Clover Lane and their item customization.) The mini pouch I got is in the color “Bubblegum.” This is one of Stoney Clover Lane’s classic colors, and it’s a very vibrant and neon pink. It was even brighter in person than it appeared online, which was perfectly fine with me. I chose a Hello Kitty patch that has her playing in a park, and says “XOXO.” It gives me Gossip Girl vibes, which is why I love it.
Unfortunately, Stoney Clover Lane removed all their Hello Kitty collaboration items from their website shortly after I got this pouch. I’m glad I got into Stoney Clover Lane before their Hello Kitty collaboration ended.
Stoney Clover Lane Customized Mini Tote
I got a customized mini tote in my first Stoney Clover Lane order as well! The Stoney Clover Lane Mini Tote is a great size for an everyday bag. It has a detachable shoulder strap, which I always use since the handles don’t fit over my shoulder. There is one zipper pocket inside, and using my Stoney Clover Lane pouches keeps things from getting lost inside the bag. I got the “Sand” color because it matches everything. Then I customized with a simple “L.” The letter color is “Cotton Candy,” and the style is “Rolled Embroidery Letters.” Since the cotton candy color is a subtle mint green, I figured it would blend well with almost all my outfits.
Pro tip: Stoney Clover Lane offers a 10% discount on your first order if you sign up for their email list. However, there are a couple caveats. Collaborations (such as Mickey & Friends), and certain limited edition collections aren’t eligible for the 10% discount. In addition, the $10 per item customization fee isn’t discounted. Nevertheless, I was able to save 10% on both this mini tote and the L patch. Then I was able to save 10% on my bubblegum mini pouch, even though the Hello Kitty patch and customization fee weren’t included.
Stoney Clover Lane x Hello Kitty Destination Patches
Stoney Clover Lane has so many cute patches, and there is no way I can justify getting a customized pouch with every single patch I love. So I decided to start collecting patches by themselves. Back in May I snagged two Stoney Clover Lane x Hello Kitty Destination patches before they were removed from the website. I got The Bahamas patch to commemorate the only foreign country I’ve visited at this point. Then I got the Tokyo patch as a nod to Hello KItty’s Japanese origins, my love of Japanese culture, and my top foreign bucket list destination!
Sky Zone Trampoline Park
My family never owned a trampoline during my childhood, but I always enjoyed jumping on trampolines at friend’s houses. But in May 2022, I had my first experience at an actual trampoline park. My BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) group went to Sky Zone in Raleigh as our final group social event of the BSF year. They had a bunch of trampolines all clustered together for jumping, trampolines where you could jump off into a foam pit, and an enclosed trampoline where you had to dodge a foam “spinner” that circled around.
My favorite activity was simply jumping on the massive trampoline clusters. I didn’t attempt any flips (I think I maybe did one flip during my entire childhood, so I definitely wasn’t about to attempt at age 37). However, I realized that I can still do quite a good toe touch! But don’t be fooled-I can’t do it anywhere close as well if I’m jumping from the ground without the extra bounce the trampoline provides. This outing to Sky Zone was probably my first time jumping on a trampoline in over 10 years. It reminded me that trampolining is a fun workout and stress reliever. I definitely want to return to a trampoline park in the near future!
Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary Coffee Table Book
Back in late September 2021, Disney released a special coffee table book commemorating Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary. Since the holiday season was only a couple months away, I couldn’t justifying buying it for myself at the time. I also figured this would be a good thing to ask for from my family for Christmas 2021. However, the coffee table book sold out really quickly, and my family wasn’t able to get it for me. Even in early 2022, it was still backordered until the spring.
I honestly forgot about the Disney World 50th Anniversary coffee table book for awhile. But then in May, I decided to see if it was back in stock anywhere. Sure enough, Amazon had it. And as a bonus, I still had an Amazon gift card my best friend gave me for Christmas 2021. I applied the Amazon gift card towards the coffee table book. So in a way, I did kind of get this book for Christmas 2021, but just months later! Whenever I get Amazon gift cards, I like to save them for fun things like this, instead of using them on boring household essentials like trash bags, haha.
Anyways, the full title of this Disney World 50th Anniversary coffee table book is, A Portrait of Walt Disney World: 50 Years of the Most Magical Place on Earth. It is HUGE, even bigger than I expected. There are so many pictures of Disney World then and now, plus concept art, and writing about Disney’s history. I haven’t even had a chance to fully peruse it yet. This book is definitely a must-have collector’s item for any Disney lover! It’s currently available on Amazon here.
(PS. For details on a special Disney World 50th Anniversary book all about Disney World food and recipes over the years, check out this post.)
Disney World 50th Anniversary Little Golden Book
While ordering my Disney World 50th Anniversary coffee table book, Amazon totally got me with their “you may also like” suggestions. I saw this adorable Little Golden Book called Mickey’s Walt Disney World Adventure. It’s apparently an updated version of the story written for Disney World’s 25th Anniversary, and thus includes references to some newer rides. This is a really cute story for kids, and a great collector’s item for adults who love Disney! I won’t be able to make it to Disney World before the 50th anniversary celebration ends after March 2023 (unless I get the opportunity for a surprise free trip, haha!) So it’s wonderful that I can experience the magic through these collectors’ items!
Draper James Orange Blossom Headband
Draper James brought their Orange Blossom print back for Spring 2022. I had admired it during a previous release, but never bought anything in it. After missing out on a flash sale in early May, I grabbed the Draper James Orange Blossom Headband during a sale later in May. This is the first Draper James headband I’ve ever bought. In addition to loving the print, I also really love the style. The knotted style of Draper James headbands looks very similar to the popular Lele Sadoughi headbands. However, Draper James headbands are much more reasonably priced than Lele, even at full price. But the quality is still great, and they are comfortable. Although the Orange Blossom print headband is currently unavailable, you can check out Draper James headbands in the same style in different prints here.
Draper James Orange Blossom Scrunchie
I also got the Draper James Orange Blossom scrunchie at the same time I got the headband during the sale. It looks like a scarf tied in your hair, but the scrunchie style makes it super easy to put in. I’ve actually still been wearing this scrunchie and the headband to add a pop of print to neutral outfits this fall. The Orange Blossom scrunchie is no longer available, but you can check out other Draper James scrunchies here. They even have a few prints in this same scarf style.
Disney World 50th Anniversary Happy Meal Toys 2.0
Back in Fall 2021, McDonald’s released a special collection of Happy Meal toys to commemorate Disney World’s 50th Anniversary. This May, they brought out another collection of Disney World 50th Anniversary Happy Meal toys. These were actually the same toys that were from the Mickey’s Runaway Railway Happy Meal toys line in November 2020, repackaged in 50th Anniversary packaging. Although I already had all of the toys from the original release, it was still fun to see how many of them I could collect again. I know that sounds silly, but it’s so cute how these toys feature Mickey & Friends riding different Disney rides.
Strawberry Picking
One of my favorite things about May is that it’s strawberry picking season in North Carolina! Waller Family Farm is my go-to place to go picking in Durham. This year I continued the tradition of getting my annual pic in my Lilly Pulitzer strawberry print shorts. The owner of the strawberry farm always gets a kick out of these!
Quaker Chewy Mini Dipps Summer Night S’mores Granola Bars
While grabbing my usual go-to granola bars during an evening Target run, I spotted an intriguing new variety, the Quaker Chewy Mini Dipps Summer Night S’mores Granola Bars. Since I’m a big fan of Quaker’s regular S’mores Chewy Granola bars, I had to try the Summer Night S’mores Dipps. The inside of the granola bar tastes very similar to a regular S’mores Quaker Chewy bar, and then the chocolate coating adds a delicious touch. Plus the mini size is really cute! I like to think of these as a healthier version of a candy bar!
Memorial Day Beach Weekend
Taking a long weekend trip to my family’s beach house in Emerald Isle, NC over Memorial Day Weekend to kick off summer is one of my favorite annual traditions. The 2022 installment did not disappoint! It included great beach time, morning lattes and Dunkin’ Munchkins, and takeout from my favorite Emerald Isle restaurant. I embraced my inner child by trying out my sand toys from the Stoney Clover Lane x Target collaboration. Whenever a beach trip comes to an end, I like to stop at Dairy Queen for a Blizzard on the way out. This particular Blizzard was extra special, because it was my first one since Blizzard the cat passed away in March. I have a few different DQ Blizzard flavors I rotate among, but the obvious choice this time was Oreo-Blizzard the cat’s namesake!
