Stoney Clover Lane Grape Hello Kitty Custom Mini Pouch

Stoney Clover Lane sent me a surprise 15% off code that was good for a limited time. I couldn’t go too crazy, since I had already spent a good amount of money on Stoney Clover Lane goodies that arrived in early May. (Check them out in this post!) However, I combined my 15% discount code with the free shipping promo over Memorial Day weekend  and got a few more things. My goodies from this order arrived in early June, and one of them was a customized Hello Kitty Mini Pouch in Grape. The 15% off code didn’t apply to the Hello Kitty patch or customization fee, but I was able to save a little bit on the patch itself. In addition, I was glad to snag another Stoney Clover Lane x Hello Kitty item before they all sold out from the website.

Stoney Clover Lane Scrunchies

I got a Stoney Clover Lane classic nylon scrunchie in my 15% off order, and loved it so much I ordered one in an additional color. The first color I got was Peach, and the second was Cotton Candy (the mint green pictured here). These hold my hair up well. (My hair is average thickness, but the individual strands are fine so I can have issues with hair ties slipping.) The attached bow detail adds a nice additional touch, and I love that they come in a little vinyl envelope for storage! I definitely intend to add additional colors to my collection.

Stoney Clover Lane Travel Pouches

I also got a couple Stoney Clover Lane travel pouches in my 15% off order. These are clear vinyl pouches with nylon trim in Stoney Clover Lane’s classic colors. I got the bubblegum (pictured here) and periwinkle colors. The travel pouch is Stoney Clover Lane’s least expensive pouch, so it’s a good option if you’re on a budget but want a piece of SCL. Although you can customize Stoney Clover Lane travel pouches with patches, I opted to get mine patch-less to save money.

Jubala Coffee

In June 2022, I tried a local coffee shop for the first time, Jubala Coffee in Raleigh. They have a few different locations, but I went to the one in North Hills. This Jubala’s newest location, and North Hills is one of my favorite areas in Raleigh. I got a skim latte (my coffee shop go-to) at Jubala, and the latte art was amazing. Since I was hungry, I got a biscuit with apple butter spread as well. Jubala is known for their biscuits, and I can clearly see why! In addition to great coffee and delicious food, I got to spend some time catching up with a dear friend. If you’re local to Raleigh/Durham or find yourself in the area for a visit, I recommend checking out Jubala!

Draper James x Lands’ End Swimsuit Top

In June 2022 I discovered my new favorite bathing suit top, the twist-front bikini top from the Draper James x Lands’ End collaboration. Although I like wearing bikinis, I like for them to have plenty of coverage. This Draper James x Lands’ End twist-front style fits the bill! I really like this top doesn’t gape in the front when I lean forward, which is an issue I’ve had with bikini tops previously. In addition, the straps are adjustable. Another perk is that that Lands’ End makes their swimwear with LYCRA Xtra Life Spandex, which is supposed to last 10 times longer than regular spandex. The material is chlorine resistant as well. I got this top in the orange blossom print and the pink gingham print. The Draper James x Lands’ End orange blossom print is essentially the same print as the Draper James headband and scrunchie I shared in my May 2022 Favorites, but with a lighter pink background.

At the time of publishing this post the Draper James x Lands’ End swimsuit top is still available in multiple sizes in both the pink gingham and orange blossom prints!

PS. I also got the matching Draper James x Lands’ End bikini bottoms in the orange blossom print. They are mid-rise, and completely cover my rear (a must for me!). They are also still available at the time of publishing!

Draper James x Lands’ End Cover-up Dress

Lands’ End was having an excellent sale (as they frequently do), so I also grabbed the Draper James x Lands’ End Cover-up Dress in two colors-green gingham (pictured below) and orange blossom. Although this is advertised as a cover-up dress, I use it as a simple casual dress instead of a bathing suit cover-up. It’s extremely comfortable and so easy to throw on to run errands, go out to breakfast or lunch, or even lounge around the house. I actually wore this dress to work, and one of my coworkers was shocked it was technically a cover-up! This probably wouldn’t be work appropriate if your office has a more formal dress code. However, it definitely works for a more relaxed workplace. As a bonus, it also has pockets!

At the time of publishing this post, the Draper James x Lands’ End Cover-Up Dress is still in stock in multiple prints and sizes here.

Draper James x Lands’ End Scrunchies

I’m really glad scrunchies have made a comeback. And to be honest, even if they go out of style again, I will probably continue to wear them! I have acquired a decent-sized scrunchie collection over the past year or so. Since the Draper James x Lands’ End scrunchies come in darling prints and are a great price for a pack of three, I naturally had to grab some. The set I got includes navy gingham, green gingham, and orange blossom. Although this particular set is currently unavailable, there’s another set of three that includes pink gingham, blue gingham, and a green & white floral print. Leftover fabric from the Draper James x Lands’ End swimsuits is actually used to make the scrunchies.

Sarah Flint Mirjana Sandals

In June I earned another pair of Sarah Flint shoes as part of their Brand Ambassador program. I chose the Mirjana Sandal in gold nappa. These are simple slide sandals with the most adorable bow detail. Ever since Sarah Flint released the Mirjana Sandal in Spring 2021, I had admired this style. So I’m glad I finally got a pair of Mirjana Sandals. The bow detail is the same as the Mirjana Wedge I shared in my April 2022 Favorites. However, the Mirjana Sandal is more casual since it’s flat. All of my other open-toed Sarah Flint shoes are either heels or wedges. Therefore, I’m glad to have a pair of Sarah Flints I can throw on for errands or casual outings in the spring and summer now.

Note that the Sarah Flint Mirjana Sandal only comes in whole sizes. I typically wear a 37 (Size US 7) in most Sarah Flint styles, and the 37 works fine for me in the Mirjana Sandal. If you’re a half size, I recommend sizing down if you have a narrow foot. One warning-these do make a loud flopping noise if you’re going down wood stairs! You can save $50 on your first pair of Sarah Flint shoes with code SARAHFLINT-BALIZS.

Jesus Christ Superstar

My parents have season tickets to the Broadway Tour series at the DPAC (Durham Performing Arts Center), and will periodically give me their tickets. In June, they gave me their tickets to Jesus Christ Superstar, and I took a friend with me! This was the first time I had been to the DPAC since seeing Mean Girls in February 2020. (That was actually one of my last big outings before the world shut down the very next month.) It was a fun night out, and the musical was a very moving depiction of the final week of Jesus’ life. Seeing an account of Christ’s crucifixion definitely gave me an extra appreciation of the punishment He endured to atone for my sins so I could receive the gift of eternal life with Him.

I hadn’t heard any of the songs from Jesus Christ Superstar prior to seeing the musical. My favorite musical number from the show was “Everything’s Alright.” Mary Magdalene sings this to Jesus to calm him down after an emotionally exhausting day. This is a good reminder that although Jesus is the son of God, perfect & without sin, He was fully human during His time on earth. Therefore, He experienced the negative human emotions we do, and is able to empathize with us. In addition, even though Mary Magdalene is singing this song to Jesus in the musical, the lyrics remind me of Jesus’ care for me. He wants me to come to Him with my stress and burdens, and that “everything will be alright” because of who He is.

Beach Weekend

The third weekend of June I went to the beach for a quick weekend trip, which was nice and refreshing. The weather was absolutely gorgeous, and I got to enjoy some of my favorite beach foods, including a Blizzard at Dairy Queen! It was great to get a little dose of sun and sand to tide me over between Memorial Day and the 4th of July trips!

Crunchy Cookie m&m’s

I tried Crunchy Cookie m&m’s for the first time in June, and really liked them! The inside is crispy, which reminds me of the Crispy m&m’s from the late 90’s/early 2000’s. Some of my recent favorite limited edition m&m flavors, like Honey Graham and Sugar Cookie, also have a crispy center. The good news is that the Crunchy Cookie m&m’s aren’t a seasonal variety, so I can get them anytime!

Beautycounter All Bright Triple Acid AHA Toner

Beautycounter added a new skincare product in June, the All Bright Triple Acid AHA Toner. I’ve been using the C Serum from Beautycounter’s All Bright skincare collection for about two and a half years now and it’s made such an amazing difference in my skin. So I’ve liked incorporating the All Bright Triple Acid AHA Toner into my skincare routine over the past several months. This toner brightens and resurfaces skin, and minimizes appearance of pores. It also removes residual dirt. You use this toner after washing your face and before applying serum.

Beautycounter recommends starting out with using the All Bright Triple Acid AHA Toner once or twice a week, and then gradually work up to using once per day. However, you don’t want to use this at the same time as the Beautycounter Overnight Resurfacing Peel or Reflect Effect AHA Smoothing Facial Mask. I use the All Bright Triple Acid AHA Toner about once every other day.

Collapsible Dish Pan with Plug

This June 2022 favorite is something very practical, so I have to include in my round-up! I put over 90% of my clothes in the washing machine. However, bathing suits are one thing I always hand-wash. Most of the care labels instruct to hand wash, because this helps them retain their shape longer. And stretched-out bathing suits are much less forgiving than other types of stretched out clothes! I previously washed my bathing suits in the bathroom sink. However, my drain stopper can be finicky sometimes. And although I clean my bathroom once a week, the thought of washing a bathing suit in a sink that hadn’t been cleaned in several days started to gross me out.

So when bathing suit season 2022 rolled around, I decided to purchase a dishpan solely for hand-washing clothing. I found this dishpan on Amazon that includes a plug, and collapses for easy storage. The drain at the bottom is nice because you don’t have to worry about making a mess when dumping water out. It fits perfectly in my kitchen sink while I’m using it. And the collapsible feature is a plus if you live somewhere with limited storage space.

Thanks for reading my very belated June 2022 Favorites post. Although this year has flown by so quickly, it doesn’t seem like June was that long ago!
