Hey y’all! Today I want to share one of my favorite local coffee shops, Sola Coffee Cafe in Raleigh. Disclaimer-I am very much a Starbucks girl. I often find myself going there instead of local places because I am a loyal Starbucks Rewards Gold Card member. However, I do like to venture out of the box and hit up local places too, especially if I’m hanging out with friends. And let’s be honest, I’ve never met a latte I didn’t like (as long as it doesn’t contain sugar-free syrup). Sola is located in North Raleigh, which is close to where a lot of my small group Bible study friends live. Sometimes we will meet there on Tuesday nights instead of having a regular Bible study.
Insta-Worthy Hangout Spot
I always enjoy my latte at Sola, but the best part about going there is the atmosphere. Sola has some lovely outdoor seating, which is perfect for a warm evening. My favorite thing at Sola is the “I Believe in Raleigh” mural on the side of the building. It may not be as well-known as the “I Believe in Nashville” mural at 12th Avenue South, but it definitely makes for some cute Instagram photo backdrops.
(Side note- I’ve never been to Nashville before. Whenever I finally get a chance to go someday, a photo opp in front of the 12th Avenue South mural is at the top of my to-do list.)
My small group recently met at Sola on a Tuesday night to have a belated birthday celebration for me and one of the other girls. It’s always such a joy to sit outside at Sola and chat with dear friends about what God is doing in our lives. While we were there, I definitely took advantage of a photo opp with the Raleigh mural.
Delicious Food & Drink
In addition to having a great ambiance, the food & drink at Sola Coffee Cafe does not disappoint. The only things that I have tried are the nonfat latte and the mini donuts, which are amazing. But they also have sandwiches & such if you want to grab lunch or dinner. One of my friends really likes the smoothies at Sola and got one the other night. As you can see in the pictures below, they are served in a Mason jar-the perfect Southern touch! I enjoyed my nonfat latte. The latte art is definitely a special touch you can’t get at Starbucks. Mini donuts are one of Sola’s signature items. You get six mini donuts per order, and my friends and I got three different kinds to share: birthday cake, cinnamon sugar, and strawberry. The birthday cake ones were my favorite. All of them were light & airy and coated in sugary goodness.

Since part of my blog’s focus is fashion, I want to share some details about what I wore, since this outfit is one of my favorite warm weather looks. The focal point is my Lilly Pulitzer skort in the Chin Chin print. This is actually from the Spring 2013 line, and is one of my favorite Lilly prints ever. Even though Chin Chin is no longer available, Lilly actually currently has a skort in a similar color scheme here*.
Shirt: A New Day by Target (y’all will probably see a lot of this in my spring/summer outfits) // Necklace: Kate Spade (no longer available, but here’s another* fun & fruity Kate Spade pendant necklace.) // Earrings: Sheila Fajl // Sandals: Tory Burch*
Sola Coffee Cafe-An Overall Winner
Sola Coffee Cafe has everything you could want in a local coffee shop. I am more that happy to break out of my Starbucks bubble and enjoy a latte and fellowship there. If you’re in the Raleigh/Durham area, you should definitely check out Sola!
Do y’all tend to gravitate towards chains or local coffee shops? What are some things you love about your favorite local coffee shop?
-xoxo Liz
The hot chocolate is delicious too! They serve it in a great big ceramic mug…with the beautiful foam art, of course!
