How to Style an Athletic Skirt Four Ways

Hey there-hope y’all had a good weekend! Today I’m back with a new post sharing how to style an athletic skirt four ways. Due to the COVID pandemic, I’ve been working from home for over four months now, and don’t have any events to attend. As a result, I’ve pretty much lived in pajamas and loungewear since mid-March. So this inspired me to show y’all how I created four different looks with one Lilly Pulitzer athletic skirt.

Lilly Pultizer Luxletic Skort

Not surprisingly, Lilly Pultizer is my go-to for athletic skirts. Lilly calls their athletic wear line “Luxletic.” Although I’ve been wearing Lilly Pultizer for 10 years, I made my first Lilly Pultizer Luxletic purchased less than a year ago. After snagging a Lilly Luxletic Skort in “Hangin’ with My Boo” during the September 2019 Lilly Pultizer After Party Sale, I developed an instant obsession. I knew I definitely wanted more Lilly Luxletic Skorts. So this past spring, when Lilly Pultizer had a 30% off flash sale, I scored two more Luxletic skorts. The Lilly Luxletic Skorts give you you the best of both worlds, because they look like a skort but have built in shorts underneath!

While some people actually work out in their Lilly Luxletic, I prefer to utilize as loungewear, aka “athleisure” wear. If I played golf or tennis I would probably actually wear my Luxletic skorts on the court or course. However, when I run for exercise I stick to less expensive workout clothes to get gross and sweaty. (Side note: My current faves for running during warm weather are Nike shorts (aka Norts) with a Gap racerback tank.)

The Corrine Skort in “Whisper Blue Beach Happy,” is one of the  Lilly skorts I bought on sale this spring. I originally featured this in my May 2020 Favorites post. This is the skort I’m featuring in this blog post. Although it’s sold out in most sizes, you can check out similar Lilly Pulitzer Luxletic Skorts here. Now I’m going to show y’all how to style an athletic skort four ways. I’ve created four different looks with my Corrine Skort by styling it with different graphic t-shirts. Here’s a close-up look at the skort itself:

Look One: Drunk Elephant Tee

This spring I discovered a love for the Drunk Elephant brand, and have incorporated some of their products into my clean beauty routine (in addition to my beloved Beautycounter products). Drunk Elephant also touts themselves as a lifestyle brand, and has a selection of bright and colorful apparel on their website. Their logo graphic tee is super soft and comfy and goes perfectly with Lilly Pulitzer bottoms. I love how the neon yellow Drunk Elephant logo tee looks with my “Whisper Blue Beach Happy” Lilly Pultizer Corinne Skort.

Look Two: Vineyard Vines Hurricane Dorian Relief Tee

Last fall I bought Vineyard Vines’ pocket t-shirt they created for Hurricane Dorian Relief after the storm devastated The Bahamas. The whale logo has the Bahamas flag design, and a percentage of proceeds from the sales of this shirt went towards Hurricane Dorian relief in The Bahamas. At the moment, The Bahamas is the only foreign country I’ve visited. Even though I hope to visit more countries in the future, The Bahamas will always be the first foreign country I visited. So that’s why I wanted to get this commemorative shirt. And I also love that the proceeds benefitted relief work in The Bahamas in the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian.

The colors in this tee complement the colors in my Corrine Skort, so I paired them together. Although this particular shirt is no longer available, Vineyard Vines has plenty other logo pocket tees on their website that would complement an athletic skirt.

I accessorized with my Anthropologie initial necklace and Tory Burch logo stud earrings. Tory Burch Miller sandals round out the outfit. The gold Millers are currently unavailable, but these light neutral ones would go well with an athletic skort.

Look Three: Vintage Neon Walt Disney World T-Shirt

I realized that the neon green t-shirt with the vintage Walt Disney World logo I bought this summer would go well with the colors in my Corrine Skort as well. There’s both blues and greens in the “Whisper Blue Beach Happy” print that go well with the blue and green in this t-shirt. Disney has multiple bright-colored Disney World logo tees on their site right now that would pair well with an athletic skirt, especially Lilly Pulitzer. I also have and love this Disney World tee. It’s still available in a small at time of publishing this post.

I’m actually wearing the same jewelry and shoes I wore in Look Two: Tory Burch Miller Sandals (similar), Anthropologie initial necklace, and Tory Burch logo stud earrings.

Look Four: Vineyard Vines Women’s Fit T-Shirt

The fourth and final look in this “How to Style an Athletic Skirt” post features another Vineyard Vines logo tee. This one is a navy women’s fit tee with a distressed logo. I bought it earlier this summer when Vineyard Vines had a Sale on Sale promo. I forgot to take a picture of the back of the shirt, but there’s a larger distress whale logo with “Vineyard Vines” written underneath. My exact Vineyard Vines tee is no longer available, but here’s a similar style in a different color.

For dainty jewelry, I styled this look with my sky blue Kendra Scott Elisa pendant and ivory Kendra Scott Ellie Studs. I mixed things up and wore my navy & white Jack Rogers with this ensemble.
