Hey Y’all!

Welcome to Palmettos and Pineapples! I’ve been wanting to start a new blog for awhile, and I finally bit the bullet and did it! Several years back I dabbled in blogging, but once I started working full-time blogging fell to the wayside. Rather picking back up on my old blog after almost three years of inactivity, I decided to start fresh. Although my love of classic preppy style and all things Southern remains the same, I have grown, changed, and matured since my last blog, and wanted to have a new space with a more crisp and sophisticated look. So here we are! I am a complete amateur, and this blog is simply a creative outlet for me to share some of my favorite things, tips and ideas, as well as some random thoughts. The focus in fashion and lifestyle, but I will have a little bit of everything. I’m excited to see what the Lord has in store! For a little more info about me, click here! To break the ice, here are a few random facts about me:

  1. I’ve been to Disney World 10 times and it’s seriously one of my favorite places in the  world. I never get tired of it!
  2. I have an obsession with mascots and characters and rarely turn down a photo opp with one. I have zero shame regarding this hobby.
  3. I don’t like dogs, and I’m actually downright scared of them if I don’t know the dog or owner. This is probably the most controversial opinion I have. The one exception to this is labs- if you have a lab I will want to pet it and be it’s buddy. One of my close friends has a black lab and he is seriously my favorite dog ever.
  4. I was obsessed with the movie 101 Dalmatians as a kid and wanted a real dalmatian. This is completely ironic now, considering #3 above. The movie is still one of my favorite animated Disney movies though.
  5. I love Halloween, and will often start brainstorming about my costume for the following year on November 1.
  6. I was a competitive swimmer in high school, and my best event was the 500 yard freestyle.
  7. I didn’t get my ears pierced until after I graduated from college. I now feel naked without earrings, and it’s hard for me to believe I went almost 25 years without wearing them.
  8. I didn’t start drinking coffee until after college. Also difficult to believe.
  9. I was scared of mannequins as a kid.
  10. I used to want to get my PhD in Public Health and be a college professor at my alma mater. It’s funny how things change!
  11. My favorite movie is Legally Blonde. I can recite it practically verbatim, and I have been Elle Woods for Halloween twice.
  12. I have never been skiing or ice skating, and I’m honestly terrified of trying either one of these things at this point in my life. If you want me to go on a ski trip, I will happily drink hot chocolate and curl up with a good book in the lodge 🙂
  13. I am an outgoing introvert. I love being social and meeting new people, but I desperately need my alone-time to recharge. I also strongly prefer intimate one-on-one or small group convos with close friends, as opposed to mingling and making small talk in a room full of strangers or acquaintances.
  14. My iPod has one of the most random assortments of music. Pressing “shuffle” will give you an assortment of country, oldies, Motown, beach music, Broadway show tunes, Disney, pop, hip-hop, etc.
  15. I have a huge sweet tooth and taking away dessert privileges was an effective discipline strategy when I was a kid.
  16. I have barely taken any formal art lessons, but I dabbled in art as a hobby a few years ago and am hoping to get back into it this year. Toying with the idea of opening up an Etsy shop.
  17. Several years ago I got stranded in a snowstorm and had to abandon my car on the side of the interstate and walk half a mile to the nearest hotel. Hands down one of the scariest experiences of my life, and as a result I am absolutely terrified of driving in snow or ice of any amount!
  18. I am a strict adherent to the “no white pants/ shoes, seersucker, or linen before Easter or after Labor Day” rule.
