Hey y’all! Hope y’all had a happy, fun, and safe 4th of July! The beach is my favorite place to be on the 4th of July. Last year I was not at the beach for the 4th, and I missed it so much. So this year I definitely made sure I would be back at the beach to celebrate Independence Day! It’s always a little bit weird when the 4th is in the middle of the week. However, I’m so glad I used some of my vacation days from work so I could be at the beach for the 4th of July and several days following! I spent the afternoon of July 4 on the beach. Then I cleaned up and put on this year’s patriotic ensemble featuring my new Lauren James gingham ruffle top!

Breaking Out of the Box
So, my closet is honestly a bit sparse when it comes to red. Whenever it comes time to pick out a patriotic outfit, I find myself with lots of blue and white, but not much red. A lot of my “red” clothes are actually more of a reddish-pink. Since I wear a lot of bright colors and pastels, red doesn’t typically fit into that color palette. However, this year I decided to break out the box and actually buy something red! This actually wasn’t too difficult for me, since Lauren James released the most adorable Americana collection with lots of red and navy gingham. I debated between the red gingham Brooke Dress (since I love my light blue Brooke Dress so much) and Reagan Ruffle Top. I ultimately decided on the top since it is something a little different.
Lauren James Reagan Ruffle Top
I seriously could not be happier with my purchase of the Lauren James Reagan Ruffle Top. The one-shoulder style with ruffle detail is different from anything else I own. It pairs really nicely with denim shorts for the ultimate red, white, & blue look. However, it would also be super cute with white jeans, and I might have to style it that way in the future! Bonus-I got it on sale! And it’s actually still on sale here if you want to plan ahead for 4th of July 2019! I’m not sure how long it will remain on sale, so I would buy ASAP if you want the discount!
In addition, I love how well some of my favorite Kendra Scott jewelry pairs with the Lauren James Reagan Ruffle Top. I wore my ivory mother of pearl Elle earrings, and my platinum druzy Elisa pendant. The earrings add a nice little pop of solid white to this outfit. I absolutely love how versatile my Kendra Scott jewelry is. I can wear it with outfits that are casual, dressy, and everything in between! Hard to believe that earlier this year I didn’t own any Kendra Scott. Now I can’t get enough!
Outfit Details Round-Up
Hope that y’all enjoyed this post and that it provided y’all with some styling inspiration for patriotic outfits in the future! I had so much fun wearing this festive ensemble last night while cooking out and watching fireworks at the beach with friends. One of our favorite traditions is having s’mores for dessert. We roast marshmallows over the grill!
What did y’all do for the 4th of July, and what did y’all wear? I’d love to hear, so let me know in the comments!
