Hey y’all and hope your Monday wasn’t too rough! You might remember that I celebrated my birthday a couple weeks ago, and recently shared a recap of some festivities. One of the highlights was enjoying a low key get-together to eat cake with some friends. So today I wanted to share a few more pics of the outfit I wore for this celebration. Figuring out a fabulous early spring birthday outfit can be tricky, because even in North Carolina late March weather is very unpredictable. It could be 80 degrees, or it could be 50 degrees. This makes it very difficult to plan an outfit in advance. And I absolutely despise being cold. Therefore, I’m not going to wear my favorite spring dress if it feels more like winter outside. It ended up being partly cloudy and in the mid 60’s the day of my birthday party. So I ended up with an early spring birthday outfit that was a great compromise. It had touches of spring, but also kept me reasonably warm.

A Touch of Spring
As I mentioned above, I absolutely HATE being cold. And it needs to be a minimum of 70 degrees before I will go outside with bare legs and short sleeves. Even though my party was indoors, I still wanted to dress appropriately. So I ended up wearing this three-quarter sleeve printed Lilly Pulitzer top, a Vineyard Vines mini skirt, and Jack Rogers classic Jacks. The pink & white Lilly print, mini skirt, Jacks, and pineapple tassel necklace gave this outfit a spring look, while the three-quarter sleeves kept me from being chilly with temperatures in the mid-60s.
Printed Lilly Pulitzer Three-Quarter Sleeve Tops
So the print of the Lilly top I’m wearing is “Get Spotted.” It’s from the Spring 2015 collection. This print has remained one of my favorites, because it has lots of pink obviously. In addition, I tend to gravitate towards Lilly prints that have animals in them, and I especially have an affinity for cats of any type. As the print name suggests, “Get Spotted” features leopards and lions. Although this top is from a previous season, Lilly Pulitzer has a few long-sleeved and three-quarter sleeve tops on their website right now that I like: this one, this one, and this one.
More Outfit Details
I bought my skirt at the Vineyard Vines outlet several years ago. However, there’s a similar one currently on their website. It’s actually even cuter because it has scallops! My pineapple tassel necklace was one of my purchases from the Lilly After Party Sale back in September, so unfortunately there’s nothing quite like it available right now. However, you can’t go wrong with this Kendra Scott tassel statement necklace, this one from Ann Taylor, or this one from J.Crew Factory. Good news though- my Jack Rogers, Tory Burch nylon tote, and Tory Burch stud earrings are all in stock!
Thanks so much for reading, and I hope you enjoyed seeing what I wore for my early spring birthday celebration. Whenever I wear something that’s a few years old, I try to link similar items to give y’all inspiration for creating your own looks.
In other news, I can’t believe the catastrophe of the Notre Dame fire today. I never got to see it in person bc I’ve never been to Europe. But I am a big history nerd. In fact, I actually almost majored in history in college. It really fascinates me that buildings in Europe have been around for hundreds of years before European settlers first discovered the US!
However, today’s news reminds us that even the most majestic building made by human hands is vulnerable to fire and other environmental stressors. Only the kingdom of God will endure forever. And even though it’s sad to lose this huge piece of history, we can cling to the hope of God’s eternal kingdom. We are entering a week of celebrating the greatest moment in history-Christ’s resurrection. And this is bigger and better than any cathedral or monument that history has given us.
