February 2019 Favorites

Hey there- hope y’all have had a great week. It’s hard to believe it’s already March! I love so many things about this month: the arrival of Spring (although it’s cold and rainy in NC today), March Madness basketball, and my birthday! As we head into a new month, I’m keeping up the tradition of sharing a few things I’ve been loving from the past month. So, here goes my February 2019 favorites.

Lilly Pulitzer Coffee Table Book

Lilly Pulitzer Coffee Table Book Lilly Pulitzer Coffee Table Book Lilly Pulitzer Quotes

I absolutely love the Lilly Pulitzer coffee table book that Assouline published in honor of Lilly’s 60th anniversary. It is a bit pricier than your average coffee table book, so I hesitated buying it at first. But once I saw it in person, I was sold! First of all, it’s definitely bigger than any of my other coffee table books. The fabric bound cover is gorgeous. The interior pages are filled with excerpts from various Lilly catalogs through the year, photos of Lilly herself, stories about Lilly from those who knew her, Lilly quotes, and more. I personally think it’s a must-have collector’s item for any Lilly lover. You can buy it here, and if you purchase this weekend (through March 3) you can get a lemon charm for free.

Allie Marie Gold Bar Drop Earrings

I discovered Allie Marie, a sweet online jewelry/accessories/home decor boutique months ago. I followed her on Instagram and admired these gold bar drop earrings (called the “Allison earrings”) on her website for months. When she had a gift with purchase promo in February, I finally bought them, and I’m so glad I did. They are different from anything I own, but still very classic. In addition, I love that they are dainty but also make a statement. They also look good with both casual and dressy outfits. Plus they are so comfortable and lightweight in your ears.

Rose Gold Tory Burch Studs

Rose Gold Tory Burch Logo Studs

I had a $50 Nordstrom promotional card (which I received from their Cyber Week promo) that expired in early February. Since I didn’t want or need to spend significantly more than $50 on anything from Nordstrom at the time, I decided to get the classic Tory Burch logo stud earrings in rose gold, since I had been enjoying my yellow gold ones so much. I’m a huge proponent of mixing metallics, but sometimes I like to have staples in both yellow gold and rose gold. It’s fun to switch between my rose gold and yellow gold Tory Burch logo studs deepening on my mood. You can shop the rose gold Tory Burch logo studs here.

“Eat Cake for Breakfast” Mug

Kate Spade "Eat Cake for Breakfast" mug

A couple weeks ago Kate Spade had their sale items an additional 30% off, and I couldn’t resist snagging this mug. The combination of pink and the idiom “Eat Cake for Breakfast” is absolutely perfect for me. I just love that whimsical outlook on meal planning. And at the tail end of National Eating Disorders Awareness Week, I also view it as a nod to the food freedom I have now. Unfortunately, it’s completely sold out now, but if I find it online anywhere I will be sure to let y’all know!

J.Crew Factory Plaid Scarf

J.Crew Factory Plaid Scarf

I had been admiring this J.Crew Factory classic plaid scarf ever since I included it in my Black Friday Sale Round-Up three months ago. I finally broke down and got it a couple weeks ago when J.Crew Factory had their clearance on sale. It’s not as thick as a blanket scarf, but it’s thicker than my Lilly scarves. I love the color scheme in this particular plaid. The orange and purple will make it perfect for a Clemson game in the future. I wore it to work yesterday, and am excited to get a. little bit of use out of it before spring arrives for good. It’s currently an additional 40% off the listed price online here.

Sam’s Club Chicken Nuggets

Sam's Club Chicken Nuggets Taste like Chick-fil-a

Thanks to following Southern Living Magazine on Facebook, I became aware that Sam’s Club carries frozen chicken nuggets that apparently taste very similar to Chick-fil-a. Luckily, I have a Sam’s Club membership, so I checked it out for myself this past month. While they don’t taste exactly like Chick-fil-a, they do taste very similar. Highly recommend grabbing a bag if you have access to Sam’s Club! The three young bag I bought a month ago is almost gone, so I need to get a new bag this weekend. They are a quick and easy dinner. I usually eat mine with oven baked fries and a side salad.

UNC Swim Meet

UNC Swim Meet

I swam competitively all through high school, and still love watching the sport whenever I can. So every winter, I try to head over to UNC for at least one swim meet. Although I was nowhere close to Division I collegiate athlete material, going to UNC swim meets brings back great memories from my competitive swimming days. I even love the familiar smell of chlorine, which I can’t get when I watch swimming on TV. So this February included my annual outing to see a live swim meet.

Mickey Mouse Ice Cream Bars

Mickey Mouse Ice Cream Bar in Grocery Stores Mickey Mouse Ice Cream Bar in Grocery Stores

I was elated when I received news from various Disney websites that Nestle was going to make boxes of Mickey Mouse ice cream bars available in grocery stores to celebrate Mickey’s 90th birthday. Words can’t express my level of excitement when I first spotted them at my Target! The grocery store version of the Mickey bars are a little bit smaller than the Disney Parks version, and they’re made with light ice cream. But they taste pretty darn close to the Disney World version, and are a perfect option for someone like me who doesn’t live in Florida and get to go to Disney World all the time!

I couldn’t help but be a little extra and put on my Minnie ears when I bit into my first store-bought Mickey bar. It’s crazy to think that the last Mickey bar I had prior to this one was poolside in 85 degree weather at Disney World. But the beauty of these grocery store Mickey bars is I can enjoy them on a cold winter day in N.C. cozied up in my fave Sherpa pullover. Funny story—when I was little there were these Mickey Mouse ice cream bars you could buy at the grocery store. They were a little different from the current bars, but I still loved them and one time I got in trouble for lying about how many I had eaten already that day bc I wanted another one after dinner

(PS. You can shop my Minnie ears, Minnie necklace, and Sherpa pullover here.)

Galentine’s Celebrations

Sassy Sissy Bakery Raleigh Iced Sugar Cookie

The Sassy Sissy Bakery Raleigh Sugar Cookies

I had a fun time celebrating Galentine’s Day with my wonderful Bible Study Fellowship friends during February. One of my friends had us over to her house to enjoy breakfast for dinner. Then we chatted and encouraged one another. This same friend also brought these adorable iced sugar cookies to share with our small group at our BSF class night during Valentines week. They are from The Sassy Sissy Bakery, and you can order some for yourself if you’re in the Raleigh/Durham area.

Palmettos & Pineapples Turned One!

Pink balloon picture

Celebrating the first birthday of Palmettos & Pineapples was definitely a favorite part of my February. I’m so thankful for all the kind congrats I got, and to everyone who has supported me over the past year. You can read more of my reflections on one year of blogging here. I also had a fun photo shoot with Reveling Spaces to commemorate the occasion!

Encouraging Others

Another blogging highlight from February was writing one of my most vulnerable but rewarding posts ever. I was so overwhelmed at the views and feedback I got on my post about heartbreak. I’m praying that God will continue to use it to encourage others.

Fun News

February closed out with a couple of fun pieces of news. First of all, Vineyard Vines for Target is coming on May 18! I can’t wait to see the look book for this one. Secondly, a modern “The Babysitters Club” series is coming to Netflix! (Learn more here). There isn’t an anticipated release date yet, but hopefully soon!

Thanks for reading my February 2019 Favorites, and hope you enjoyed learning a little more about what I’ve been loving this past month. It’s always fun to do these monthly round-up posts. What are some of your favorite things lately?
