Hey there-hope y’all had a lovely weekend! I’m kicking off this week on Palmettos & Pineapples with a really fun post. Today I’m super thrilled to share details about one of my absolute FAVORITE outfits, along with the fun event Purcado hosted for local bloggers a couple weeks ago. Purcado: Your Shoe-Shopping BFF
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen some of my posts about a blogger event I attended recently in downtown Durham. Purcado, a start-up company based right here in Durham, invited me and a handful of other central NC bloggers to a photo collaboration mixer a couple weeks ago. We met at Pour Taproom and enjoyed appetizers, drinks, and conversation. I enjoyed getting to meet other bloggers face to face, and learning more about our amazing host, Purcado.
Essentially, Purcado is a shoe-shopping search engine. Their goal is to help you find the perfect pair of shoes at the lowest possible price. Simply type the kind of shoes you are looking for in the search bar on their website, and the results will yield a side-by-side comparison of different prices from different retailers. Must simpler than having to switch back and forth between a gazillion different browser tabs during a Google search, right? Who doesn’t like to save both time and money? In a nutshell, Purcado’s motto is: “Best shoes. Best retailers. Best price. One search.”
Photo Shoot Time
In addition to mingling with other bloggers, the event included a photo shoot with Katie, Purcado’s wonderful photographer. Each of us took turns walking around the area surrounding Pour Taproom while Katie snapped some pics of us (and our shoes, of course!). I wore one of my all-time favorite Lilly Pulitzer dresses, the Delia Shift in Pop Pink Tusk In Sun.
I loved that Purcado had props for us to use if we desired. Of course I had to get some shots with the pineapple, part of my blog’s namesake!
This Lilly Pulitzer dress is one of my all-time favorites. It’s called the Delia Shift and the print is Tusk In Sun. I love elephants, so naturally gravitated towards this print. Lilly released Tusk In Sun in multiple color-ways, but this pink is hands-down my favorite. Also, this dress is definitely not the only Lilly item I own in Tusk In Sun. I have several pieces in the different color schemes. (You might remember these shorts I wore to Disney’s Animal Kingdom.) Some Lilly Pulitzer lovers only buy one item in a particular print, but that’s definitely not me!
The Tusk in Sun Delia Shift is actually from Lilly’s Spring 2015 collection. You can always search for it on Poshmark, eBay, or a Lilly Buy/Sell/Trade Facebook group. Luckily, Lilly does have some printed shifts with elephants in their current collection. I love the Mila Shift in On Parade (the cut of the Mila is actually very similar to the Delia.) There’s also the Ashlyn Shift Dress in Elephant Appeal.
Katie had to get some detail shots of my shoes, since Purcado is all about shoes! These Jack Rogers jellies were actually a TJ Maxx find a few years ago. I wore them because there was a chance of thunderstorms that day, and I’m super paranoid about messing up my nice leather sandals in a downpour. Jelly Jacks are great to wear if you need something dressier than a regular flip-flop, but might be going somewhere with wet conditions. This exact color is no longer available, but I will link a similar pair later in this post. Better yet, go to Purcado’s website and do a search for “Jack Rogers Jellies.”
I think this shot might be my favorite. I love the twinkly lights in this alley in downtown Durham.

Community over Competition
In addition to getting individual shots of all our outfits and shoes, Katie got a few group shots of all the bloggers in attendance. Honestly, one of my favorite parts about blogging these past few months has been connecting with other bloggers. It is really awesome that for the most part, the blogging community is really supportive of one another. While I enjoy the virtual community that Instagram gives bloggers, it is even more fun to meet other bloggers in person. The blogger crew at Pour Taproom represented a diversity of styles and stories, but we all bonded over our shared passion for fashion and creating content for our amazing readers. Everyone is unique, so I wholeheartedly believe that even bloggers in the same niche should encourage and build one another up. I’m all about women empowering women, and this event definitely had that vibe!
I hope y’all enjoyed this post, and that it gave you some summer styling inspiration as well as a pro tip to help you shop for shoes more efficiently. Thanks again to Purcado for hosting such a fun & fruitful event! It’s always rewarding to build relationships with other bloggers and local businesses.
