Extra Casual Style Guide: Lily Grace

Hey y’all! Hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. I’m thankful for the sacrifices of all the American heroes who have made it possible for me to enjoy the freedoms I have in the USA. Anyways, I had a great time at the beach, and am glad the rain held off until this morning. It definitely makes leaving the beach easier when the weather is bad, because at least I know I’m not missing out on good beach weather. My long weekend at the beach was super low-key. If I wasn’t laying out on the beach, I was most likely relaxing at the beach house. Most of my clothes I packed were loungewear. However, loungewear can still be a super cute and fun look. Therefore, today I want to share one of my favorite extra casual looks: a Lily Grace t-shirt with athletic shorts.

An oversized tee with athletic shorts is my absolute favorite thing to wear wear when I’m lounging around, running errands, or going anywhere super casual. The oversized t-shirt isn’t ratty and grungy though. It is either a preppy brand pocket tee, a Clemson or UNC tee, or a tee from a place I’ve visited. I love t-shirts with fun designs because they are a way to express myself and look pulled together while still being comfy. And isn’t expressing yourself what personal style is all about?

Lily Grace

I have a ridiculous amount of t-shirts, and there’s no way I can cover all my favorites in one post. So for today, I am going to focus on Lily Grace, one of my favorite preppy brands. I discovered Lily Grace two years ago. Part of why I love them so much is because they are based in South Carolina. All Lily Grace tees are designed and printed in the great state of SC. And even though I live in North Carolina, I also claim South Carolina as my home state. Lily Grace tees are super soft and comfortable. The front has a pocket with the adorable Lily Grace bumble bee logo, and the back features a preppy Southern design. Here are a couple Lily Grace tees I enjoy wearing for a cute and pulled together casual look:

One in a Melon

Lily Grace

I love this “One in a Melon” design by Lily Grace. If you’ve been following my blog for any amount of time, then you know I am obsessed with fruit motifs. Although this pic is from one of last summer’s beach trips, I actually wore this tee at the beach this past weekend. Even though this isn’t an obvious Americana design, I still think it’s appropriate for patriotic holidays like Memorial Day. The tee is navy blue, the writing is white, and the watermelon is reddish. Plus, if fresh sliced watermelon doesn’t scream “American summer,” I don’t know what does!

Wild Thing

This “Wild Thing” design is another one of my Lily Grace favorites. I think the bear is too cute, especially her bow. You might remember my obsession with Duffy the Disney Bear, and the bear on the back of this shirt reminds me of his girlfriend, ShellieMay.

My favorite kind of shorts to wear underneath a casual tee are Lauren James shorties. Unfortunately, she has discontinued them from her website, but you can always try to snag a pair from eBay, Poshmark, or a Facebook buy/sell/trade group. Next time I take pics in an oversized t-shirt, I will have to actually get my Lauren James shorties in the picture. Nike shorts (aka Norts) are my second favorite brand of casual shorts. I like my t-shirts so big they cover my shorts!  (Side note: you can shop my Tory Burch Miller sandals here).

Current Lily Grace Designs

So both of these Lily Grace t-shirts are from past seasons but there are tons of cute ones currently available. Here are some of my favorites:
Sweet & Savage
Chillin with My Peeps (I’m not a dog person but this Dalmatian is so cute. 101 Dalmatians is one of my favorite Disney movies.)
Elephants
Tropic Like It’s Hot
Ice Cream

Even though I really don’t need anymore t-shirts, I couldn’t resist adding the “Sweet & Savage” one to my collection this weekend when I saw it at Madras & Khaki’s gift boutique in Emerald Isle.

I hope y’all enjoyed this post and that it gave y’all some inspiration on how to be comfy & casual while still looking cute & pulled together. In future posts I will share more of my Lily Grace tees, as well as some of my other favorite preppy t-shirt brands. Do y’all have a favorite type of t-shirt you like to wear when you’re just hanging out and relaxing or running errands? Let me know in the comments.
