A Dress for All Seasons

Hey y’all! It’s definitely been an interesting week. On one hand, there’s the excitement of the Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale. But on the other hand there’s the somberness of the 17th anniversary of 9/11 yesterday, and the preparations the Carolina coast is making in anticipation of massive Hurricane Florence. Although we are preparing for gusty winds and heavy rain all across North Carolina this weekend, it has still been relatively hot and humid the past week. As I’ve previously mentioned, this is a tricky time of year to dress. It’s after seersucker season but still way too hot for fall clothes. However, I have recently discovered a dress for all seasons, the Lauren James Ali Slub Dress.

Dress for All Seasons

I bought this Lauren James Ali Slub Dress during a Lauren James sale this summer. It has quickly become my favorite dress for all seasons. The solid color and basic cotton fabric make it acceptable for strict post-Labor Day fashion rule followers like me. At the same time, the lightweight fabric and sleeveless silhouette make it cool enough for a September day with temperatures in the 90’s. Also, the gold buttons in the front add a lovely extra detail. The split neckline looks great with a variety of short  necklaces. Unfortunately I was not able to get a good close-up picture this time, but I’m wearing my new Jen Kotch x Iconery “Anxiety” necklace from Ban.do to raise mental health awareness. A Kendra Scott Elisa Pendant would also look great with the Lauren James Ali Slub Dress. I love how my magenta Kendra Scott Danielle earrings (currently on sale!) pop against the navy, which is such a great neutral color. This dress is also super comfortable, and I got multiple compliments when I wore it to a friend’s birthday dinner last week.

Truly a Dress for All Seasons

In addition to being perfect for the transitional period between Labor Day and true fall weather, this dress will also look great with boots and a jacket or cardigan when the weather cools down. I will also definitely break it out next year when we have springlike days before Easter. Since Easter isn’t until mid-April in 2019, it will definitely come in handy.  Honestly, you could wear the Lauren James Ali Slub Dress 365 days a year! I would even add tights or leggings in an appropriate color if it was cold enough. Good news- this dress is still available here. It comes in a raspberry color as well.

Hope that y’all enjoyed this post and that it gave you some more styling inspiration for the fall transition. I seriously can’t recommend the Lauren James Ali Slub dress enough. It really is the ultimate dress for all seasons! If you want more transitional styling inspiration, check out this post from a few weeks ago where I styled a coral top that’s basically the short version of this dress.

If you’re in the path of Hurricane Florence, please stay safe. Hopefully we won’t have too much damage here in central NC, but the coast is going to get hit pretty hard. I’m especially praying for Emerald Isle, NC, one of my favorite places in the world. The anniversary of 9/11 and the approach of  Hurricane Florence have reminded me how much I look forward to the day when Jesus will return and make all things new. There will be no more terrorism or natural disasters, only eternal joy. Check out my post on Instagram for more reflections on this.

I will try my best to update the blog and Instagram over the weekend, but if there are power outages I may be off the grid for a bit. If we lose power, I’m going to outline and type some blog posts offline so that I can them upload them once power comes back on. Then if my laptop battery dies I can resort to handwriting in a spiral notebook. Gotta get resourceful here!

PS. There’s still a few hours left to shop the Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale. You have until 11:59pm EST tonight! Click here to shop my favorites.
