Wow y’all, it’s hard to believe that April has come to a close and tomorrow, it’s gonna be May. Cue the Justin Timberlake meme, haha. Here’s a fun fact-I was never much into boy bands growing up because I had crushes on UNC basketball player instead! Anyways, despite being in quarantine the whole month, April actually went by really quickly for me. Even though I couldn’t go out and do anything, it was still a rich and full month for me. I’m able to entertain myself at home pretty well. If you’re new around here, each month I like to do a round-up of my favorite things from the past month. So, today I’m sharing my April 2020 Favorites!

Kate Spade Minnie Mouse Change Purse
I technically ordered this the last day of March, but it didn’t arrive until April, so I’m including it in my April favorites round-up! Although I had admired this Kate Spade Minnie Mouse change purse, I couldn’t justify paying anywhere close to full price. So when Kate Spade a 40% off sale, I finally got it. Since it was already marked down, I paid less than 50% of the original retail price. This Minnie change purse sold out shortly after I ordered it, so I’m really glad I went for it. However, Kate Spade still has some other Minnie Mouse items currently available, which you can check out here.
shopDisney Haul
Although my birthday was in March, my shopDisney order I got with my birthday discount didn’t arrive until April. I got this Walt Disney World t-shirt, which is one of my new favorite tees. It pairs nicely with my Lilly Pulitzer pajama pants while relaxing at home during quarantine. The shirt is extremely soft and I love the color scheme! I highly recommend this for any Disney World fan. In addition, I snagged an adorable plush keychain of Duffy the Disney Bear’s turtle friend ‘Olu, and a pack of vintage Mickey & Minnie retro greeting cards (unfortunately sold out).
Duffy & Friends Stickers
In case you’re unfamiliar with Duffy the Disney Bear, he is Mickey’s teddy bear. You can read more about him here. Duffy is very popular in the Asian Disney parks, especially Tokyo Disney. I became obsessed with Duffy on my 2015 Disney World trip, and am so thankful I got to meet him before Disney World removed his meet & greet from Epcot. A handful of additional friends eventually came along to join Duffy in the Asian Disney Parks: ShellieMay, a girl bear; Gelatoni, an artistic cat; StellaLou, a ballerina bunny; and CookieAnn, a chef puppy. Then ‘Olu the turtle friend joined the gang as an exclusive at Disney’s Aulani Resort in Hawaii. When another blogged shared some Duffy & Friends stickers she bought on Amazon, I ordered them immediately. And I’m so glad I did, because they sold out not that long afterwards. However, I discovered this Etsy shop that has some adorable Duffy & friends stuff, including these stickers.
Easter Sunday
Easter 2020 may have looked a bit different from years past, but thank goodness the coronavirus couldn’t cancel it! Most Sundays I have watched online church in pajama pants, but on Easter I mustered up the motivation to put on a Lilly dress and full makeup. (I definitely changed into my daytime pajamas afterwards haha.)
During the online Easter sermon, my pastor pointed out that the circumstances surrounding this Easter weren’t unlike the first Easter 2000 years ago. People weren’t filling up churches and taking pictures in their Easter outfits. The disciples were behind closed doors because of fear. Yet Jesus in His resurrected body broke in to those behind closed doors because of fear. And my pastor also reminded us that Jesus breaks in so that He might loom larger than the things we fear. This was such a timely reminder in the midst of a pandemic, as well as someone like me who struggle with anxiety in general.
I also made my famous candy-coated m&m pretzels with Easter m&m’s, even though I couldn’t share them at the Easter potluck that was cancelled due to COVID-19.
Drunk Elephant Body & Hair Line
Drunk Elephant is another popular clean beauty company. I had heard people rave about Drunk Elephant skincare for awhile, but hadn’t tried it since I was pretty committed to my Beautycounter skincare. However, when Drunk Elephant launched a brand new body and hair care line in early April, I decided to try it out. Sephora gave minis of the Drunk Elephant Body Lotion and Drunk Cream Body Cleanser as a limited-time gift with purchase, so I ordered the full size of the Drunk Elephant shampoo and a restock of my eye primer to get the freebie. I enjoyed all three of these Drunk Elephant hair/body products so much that I ordered the full sizes of the body lotion and body wash. Since I was so impressed with the Drunk Elephant hair and body line, I ordered The Littles set to try out some Drunk Elephant skincare. While I plan to stick with Beautycounter for most of my skincare, I did enjoy trying out the Drunk Elephant Littles and plan to incorporate a couple of the Drunk Elephant products into my routine with Beautycounter favorites. I will share more about this in a later blog post!
Free Chick-Fil-A Cookie
I had a birthday reward in my Chick-fil-a app for a free cookie. Due to coronavirus, March birthdays had until the end of April to redeem their free cookie. So one night last week I ventured out to pick up Chick-fil-a for dinner, and got a Cool Wrap to go along with my cookie. Prior to this Chick-fil-a adventure, I hadn’t driven anywhere in nearly three weeks, since I’ve been working from home, doing phone sessions with my therapist, and getting groceries delivered. I’m glad I remembered how to drive!
Primally Pure Body Butter
Primally Pure is another one of my favorite clean beauty brands. I had a discount code so ordered some Primally Pure goodies at the beginning of the month. I tried this Vanilla+Almond body butter, and it is amazing. It has more of a paste-like consistency as opposed to creamy. But it seriously smells like cookie batter, and feels good on my skin. This body butter is also all-natural. Side note- natural doesn’t always mean safe ingredients, and synthetic doesn’t always mean unsafe ingredients. But Primally Pure uses safe natural ingredients in their products. So if you’re really wanting to use natural beauty products, they are my top recommendation. And you can save 10% on your first Primally Pure purchase with code LS10.
Kanki Delivery
I enjoyed my Kanki delivery so much last month that I ordered it twice during April. Both times I ordered the Yakisoba noodles with chicken.
Drunk Elephant Umbra Sheer Physical Defense SPF 30
I actually went ahead and bought the full size Drunk Elephant facial sunscreen before trying the mini. I’m very happy with it and will definitely repurchase. It is non-greasy and absorbs quickly. There’s no lasting white cast after you rub it in. It also doesn’t even feel like I have sunscreen on. Wearing SPF every day even when you’re inside is my top anti-aging skincare tip. I highly recommend if you’re looking for a daily facial SPF. Although my tinted moisturizer has SPF in it, I’m saving it for post-quarantine life when I’m actually going out!
Shipt Grocery Delivery
Once the coronavirus pandemic hit and I started become increasingly nervous about going to the store, so I decided to rejoin Shipt grocery delivery. When you order through Shipt, you choose your store, place your order in the app, and then your shopper goes to the store and shops for you, then delivers to your house.
A Shipt membership is $99 per year (which comes out to $8.75 a month) or $14 per month. If you’re a Shipt member, there’s no delivery fee as long as your order is at least $35. Shipt does have the option for delivery if you’re not a member, but I believe it’s around $9.99 per order, regardless of order size. So it’s honestly a better deal to be a member. And if you’re not ready to commit to a full year, then the $14 a month is worth it if you’re going to place at least two orders during a month. In addition, I tip my delivery person, even though it’s optional.
When I first re-joined Shipt earlier this month, it was harder to get a delivery time due to the surge in demand. However, Shipt has since hired additional shoppers, so for the most part you can get a same-day delivery in my area. If the store is out of something you requested, your shopper will text you to let you know that. They will also offer substitutions for out of stock items. The stores that offer Shipt depend on your area, but I can get deliveries from Target and Harris Teeter, which are my two main grocery stores anyways. If you’re interested in Shipt, you can use this link to get $10 off your annual membership.
Blog E-Newsletter
One of the biggest highlights of my April was sending out my first-ever blog e-newsletter. I plan to send one out every week, and it will feature recent blog highlights, as well as links to some older posts that are currently relevant. In addition, my subscribers will get sneak peeks of some of my blog posts before I publicly publish them. I really enjoyed sending out my first e-newsletter last weekend, and would love to send you a copy next time. You can subscribe to my e-newsletter here, and you get a copy of my “Closet Essentials Worth Investing In” one-page guide.

I had Shipt too during the first week we had to stay at home but over time, I wasn’t able to get any time in and I just cancelled my membership. It was pointless to have if I wasn’t able to use it. I love your new Minnie Mouse change purse. It’s very cute and at 40% that’s a steal! I want some Yakisoba! It’s rare we do take out since we have been cooking so much at home but man, I would love to get something new right about now! I hope your day is going well so far and happy Friday!

Thanks for reading Maureen! It’s definitely been a little easier to get a Shipt delivery scheduled for the past couple weeks, as they have been hiring more shoppers! Hope you can enjoy some good take-out soon. I know the local restaurants will appreciate any business right now while they are closed for dine-in. Hope you’re having a lovely weekend!
