Hey y’all-hope the Monday after July 4th holiday weekend treated you alright! It was my first day back to my regular routine after a five day beach vacation that flew by. I didn’t sleep great last night, and I think my body might be protesting being home from the beach-haha! Anyways, one of the highlights of my most recent beach trip was celebrating the 4th of July. So today I’m sharing a little recap of 4th of July 2019 at Emerald Isle, particularly what I wore!

4th of July Traditions
I have spent the majority of the past 20+ July 4th holidays at Emerald Isle. Two years ago, when the 4th of July was on a Tuesday, I opted to stay home since it was an awkward day not adjacent to a weekend, and I wanted conserve my vacation days from work for then the beach would be less crowded. However, I realized that I missed being at the beach for July 4 way too much. I didn’t even go see any fireworks since it was a work night and I didn’t feel like dealing with traffic, parking, and crowds at a local fireworks display. So from here on out, I am allocating some of my vacation days to the week of July 4 so that I can be at the beach even if the holiday falls mid-week! It’s so nice to be able to cookout, then just walk down to the beach to see the fireworks!
This year my aunt, uncle, and cousins were renting a house at Emerald Isle during July 4th week. So my parents and I went over to their place for a cookout. It was a treat to get to spend some time with them, especially because the family friends we usually celebrate the 4th of July with were out of the country. After dinner, we went out in the driveway, where my three-year-old cousin had a blast with poppers and sparklers. Then we went down on their house’s beach access to see the fireworks.
Red, White, & Blue Outfit Details
This year I shopped my closet for my 4th of July outfit. I ended up choosing this navy blue flowy tank top with a bow detail in the front. It was part of the Minnie Rocks the Dots Collection that Lauren Conrad did for Kohl’s a few years ago. If you look closely, you can see that there are outlines of Minnie Mouse’s silhouette all over my top. I got three pieces from this collection, and have been very pleased with the quality and how they have held up over the past few years. Unfortunately the Minnie Rocks the Dots collection is no longer available (unless you luck out on Poshmark or eBay), but Kohl’s still carries the LC Lauren Conrad line and has a wide selection of tops here. The LC Lauren Conrad brand is very affordable as well, and they have frequent sales.
My white shorts are from Old Navy. I’ve had them for several years, but Old Navy currently has some 5-inch inseam classic white shorts here. I don’t have a ton of red things, and the top I wore for the 4th of July last year is basically one of the only red tops I own. However, I added a pop of red with my Kate Spade idiom bangle that says “take heart” on the inside. Kate Spade no longer carries all the colorful idiom bangles, but you can shop their jewelry selection here. And if you’re looking for red jewelry, Kendra Scott is a great option.
More Jewelry + Shoes
Speaking of Kendra Scott, I wore my Skye Blue Illusion Elisa Pendant that I created at the Color Bar using my birthday discount earlier this year. My gold bar drop earrings by Allie Marie round out my jewelry. For shoes, I wore my pewter Jack Rogers jellies. I would have preferred to wear my navy & white classic Jacks. However, I since there were some evening rain showers I stuck with the jellies!
Hope y’all enjoyed the details of my 4th of July 2019 outfit. In addition, I hope this showed you that you don’t have to buy a completely new outfit for every holiday and occasion. You can shop your closet and pull together an outfit from what you already own! How did y’all celebrate the 4th of July? What did you wear?!
