Hey y’all-I’m back today with a bonus post because Beautycounter just announced an awesome promotion for their Flawless in Five makeup collection. In full disclosure, I am a Beautycounter consultant, and will earn a commission if you decide to shop via my website. However, I wholeheartedly believe in Beautycounter’s mission to get safer beauty products in the hands of everyone. Furthermore, Beautycounter makeup outperforms other brands that aren’t as good for your body because they contain known or potential irritants, hormone disrupters, and even carcinogens. If you’re new around here, you can learn more about Beautycounter’s mission and why I switched in this post. Now, I want to share a a bit about my quick natural makeup routine that I base on Beautycounter’s Flawless in Five.
Quick Natural Makeup Routine
First of all, I believe that every woman should have the confidence to leave the house without makeup. No one should feel like they need makeup to be beautiful. However, lets be honest–wearing makeup simply makes things more fun! That being said, I still like to keep my makeup very natural looking, and I don’t want to spend a huge chunk of time applying makeup every morning. In addition, I simply don’t have a significant chunk of time to spend doing my makeup in the mornings before work. A few months ago I shared my super quick three-step bare essentials makeup routine. The Flawless in Five routine has a few additional steps, but as the name suggests, you can apply in five minutes. I am going to go through them for y’all, and note how I incorporate them into my typical makeup routine.
Step 1: Tint Skin Hydrating Foundation or Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer
For the first step of Flawless in Five, you choose between Beautycounter Dew Skin SPF 20 Tinted Moisturizer or Tint Skin Foundation. Here are the primary differences between these two products:
Dew Skin provides sheer coverage, while Tint Skin provides light to medium buildable coverage. Although Dew Skin does give your skin a glow a subtly even out skin tone, it’s not what you will want to choose if you’re super concerned about wanting to cover blemishes and imperfections. Tint Skin provides heavier coverage than Dew Skin, but it’s still very natural looking. Note that if you are looking for a full-coverage foundation that blurs every single pore and imperfection, Tint Skin isn’t for you. I still love it and think it’s a great foundation if you prefer lighter, more natural looking coverage.
Also, Dew Skin has SPF 20, whereas Tint Skin does not have any SPF. Most days if I’m just going to work, I wear Dew Skin, because I’m not super concerned about skin tone and blemish coverage, and SPF is important to me. However, if I have extra time, or if I’m going somewhere other than work, I will sometimes layer Tint Skin on top of Dew Skin. This works really well, and enables me to have SPF and additional skin tone coverage. Then if I’m applying makeup for the first time that day in the evening (as is often the case on weekends or beach vacations), I will just wear Tint Skin since I’m not as concerned about SPF.
Step 2: Concealer Pen
Beautycounter concealer comes in a nifty click pen, which makes it extremely portable. The head of the pen has a small brush that the concealer comes out on, and you can apply it directly from there. However, I recommend putting it on your finger first if you’re covering a pimple, so that you don’t get bacteria on the brush. Also, I have found that applying it to your finger first helps better control the amount of product you put in a single area. I use Beautycounter concealer, but I often skip this step on days I’m short on time and/or don’t have any noticeable pimples. I’m definitely glad to have it on hand for days when I do need a little extra coverage on blemishes though.
Step 3: Brow Pencil or Brow Gel
I have not used the Beautycounter Brow Pencil, but the Brow Gel is one of my latest Beautycounter faves, which you might remember from my August 2019 Favorites post. As I’ve mentioned before, my brows are very thin from too much waxing in the early 2000s. Using a little bit of the tinted brow gel really makes a difference in giving them more definition, while still looking natural. Whenever I have used other brow pencils in the past, I can never make it look natural, so that’s why I stick with the gel.
Step 4: Lengthening or Volumizing Mascara
For the next Flawless in Five step, you choose between Lengthening or Volumizing mascara. Full disclaimer- I haven’t used Beautycounter mascara yet. When I first started using Beautycounter, I purchased makeup products seperately rather than in the Flawless in Five bundle. Since I was also buying skincare and body products, I needed to pace my spending. While I like the Honest Beauty mascara I’ve been using, I do plan to try out Beautycounter mascara once the tube of Honest Beauty I’m currently using runs out.
Step 5: Satin Powder Blush
You definitely can’t go wrong with Beautycounter Satin Powder Blush. I bought the “Melon” color back in the spring, and then I recently switched over to “Nectar” for fall/winter, since it’s a bit more subtle. It still has a very slight sheen to it though. The Satin Powder Blush is very pigmented, and a little bit goes a long way. It also lasts awhile. I still have plenty of the Melon blush in the compact I used for several months, and since powder blush has a shelf life on 24 months I won’t need to buy anymore for awhile.
Step 6: Lip Gloss
Last but definitely not least-lip color! I actually haven’t used Beautycounter Lip Gloss yet, but I do incorporate their Sheer Lipstick or Color Intense Lipstick into the lip color portion of my makeup routine. My bestie bought the Azalea lip gloss from me this summer, and she absolutely loves it. I definitely intend to try Beautycounter lip gloss soon, but I’ve just had to pace my purchases.
This picture gives you an idea of what the finished product looks like for “Flawless in Five. I’ve applied my variation of the products, as I’ve outlined above. Honestly, this is almost as close as I get to a full face of makeup as I get. I’m wearing Dew Skin in this picture, so I would wear Tint Skin if I was going for a heavier makeup look. The only other makeup addition I make is eye primer and eye shadow, and those are definitely the easiest to leave out if I’m in a hurry.
Benefits of Flawless in Five
The benefit of purchasing a Flawless in Five Collection from Beautycounter is that you save approximately $37 compared to buying these six products separately. Also, the total cost of the collection is still less than if you bought just five of these products separately. So even if there’s one product in the collection you’re not sure about, it’s still worth it to give it a try. If you’ve been thinking about overhauling your makeup bag to clean products, this is a great way to do it and save some money in the process. Furthermore, the retractable foundation brush that you get for free for a limited time is a $35 value, so that’s additional savings.
Beautycounter Band of Beauty
In addition, if you add a Band of Beauty membership to your Flawless in Five purchase for $29, you will also get a free Overnight Resurfacing Peel as welcome gift, which is a $63 value. On top of that, a Band of Beauty membership gets you free shipping on your order (plus all orders of $100+ for an entire year), and $15 back in product credit to use on your next order. You will also earn 10% product credit on all additional orders you make for the next year. There are no autoship requirements for Beautycounter Band of Beauty. You simply order when you want to, and enjoy the benefits as a special “thank you” for being a loyal customer.
