Hey y’all-hope you had a safe and fun 4th of July. Last week on Instagram, I asked if y’all would be shopping the annual Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. About half of y’all who replied said that you do plan to shop the sale. However, since every blogger and their mother covers the big Nordstrom Sale, I want to make sure I don’t overwhelm y’all! But since a good number of y’all do plan to shop it, I will publish some Nordstrom sale content. Today I am kicking things off in advance by sharing some basic info and tips for shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.

What is the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, also know as the “N-Sale,” occurs in mid-July every year, and lasts until early August. As you know, most major retailer sales usually exclude new merchandise and focus on clearing out the previous season’s merchandise. However, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale differs in that new fall merchandise is marked down for a few weeks, and then it goes back up to full price after the sale. I honestly think is why the N-Sale gets so much hype-it’s the reverse of the typical sales event model.
When is the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale has two waves-early access and public access. Early access begins on Friday, July 12 at 12:30pm EST, and is exclusively for Nordstrom card holders. Public access begins on Friday, July 19, and continues through August 4.
Should I Get a Nordstrom Card?
I highly recommend getting a Nordstrom card. They have both a retail card just for us at Nordstrom, and a Visa card you can use everywhere. There are no annual fees, and when you use your Nordstrom card, you accumulate points towards Nordstrom Notes. These are basically gift certificates to use on future purchases. Also, Nordstrom typically gives you a bonus note if you shop the same day you are approved for a card. If you apply for a card on July 12, then you will be able to shop the N-Sale early access if approved. This is actually what I did last year. I applied for a Nordstrom card the first day of early access, shopped immediately, and got a bonus note! Nordstrom carries several of my favorite brands, so it makes sense for me to have a card where I can accumulate points towards Nordstrom Notes. Also, Nordstrom has periodic Double points events throughout the year, where you can accumulate points towards a Nordstrom note more quickly. You also have the option to select one personal Double Points Day of your choice each calendar year.
Apply for a Nordstrom care here. A word to the wise though-please make sure that you use your credit card wisely. Don’t charge more than you are able to pay off every month. Paying interest charges on purchases negates the benefit of getting Nordstrom Notes. Also, make sure you write down when your payment is due to avoid late fees!
What Is Included in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?
So there’s no way to know everything that will be included in the N-Sale prior to Early Access begins on July 12. However, this catalog gives you a sneak peek of things that will be available. The catalog is helpful because it indicates the sale price, and the price that it will increase to after the sale. Also, you can check out this post to see my top picks from the 2018 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. This will give you an idea of what past N-Sales have included!
My favorite things to look for in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale are Tory Burch handbags, sunglasses, and shoes; Kate Spade handbags, sunglasses, and jewelry; Kendra Scott jewelry; Hunter boots; and designer jeans. Last year was my first year shopping the N-Sale, and I got this gorgeous Tory Burch leather tote:
Will Items Be Restocked During the Sale?
Sometimes items are restocked during the sale, and new items are added throughout the three week period. However, there are no guarantees that anything will be restocked once it sells out. So if you have your heart set on something, I recommend ordering it ASAP! In addition, Nordstrom has free shipping and free returns. So if you see something online you like, but then change your mind, it’s really easy to return.
One more note-I realize that the Nordstrom Sale can be a bit controversial. Some people love it, some people hate it and are sick of bloggers constantly pushing it. I want to take this opportunity to say that the reason I cover the Nordstrom sale is that Nordstrom is genuinely one of my favorite retailers. As I mentioned earlier in this post, they have several of my favorite brands under one roof! And if you’re like me and paying full price for a Tory Burch bag is a bit out of your budget, then the N-Sale is a great opportunity to get one at great savings! When I curate my N-Sale Shopping Guide, I only share items I genuinely love and think y’all will love too. I will also share items that you specifically tell me you are shopping for. I don’t simply share items that every other blogger is sharing! Even though I do earn a small commission if you shop the Nordstrom Sale through my links on the blog and LIKEtoKNOW.it app, I strive to be authentic in what I promote.
I think this covers the basics for the 2019 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, and I hope you found it helpful. If you have any additional questions about the N-Sale, please reach out to me via email or Instagram DM! Also, if there’s anything particular you’re looking for in the sale, please let me know that too. I will be publishing a shopping guide with my top picks on the first day of early access. That’s just one week from today! Then I will post an update the first day of public access.
