Hey y’all-happy Friday! Today I am super excited to share pics from my recent shoot with Emily Gardiner. Last week we hung out at Maple View Farms (one of my absolute favorite places in the Triangle) and took pics while enjoying delicious homemade ice cream and frolicking in cornfields. The sunset was absolutely gorgeous that night too! If you read my summer bucket list, you may recall that watching the sunset at Maple View was on there. Yay for being able to check that off! Anyways, today’s post features one of my new favorite clothing items: an adorable Lauren James Gingham dress!

The Brooke: A Lauren James Gingham Dress
I ordered this light blue gingham Lauren James dress, called the “Brooke,” from their Pink Friday sale several weeks ago. It was about 50% off retail. I had never tried it on before, but made my best guess on sizing based on the description and reviews. When my Pink Friday goodies arrived, I was delighted that if fit perfectly! In fact, I loved it so much I knew I wanted to do a photo shoot to feature it on the blog ASAP!
There are so many things to love about the Lauren James Brooke dress! It’s super lightweight and comfortable, perfect for a hot and humid Southern summer. The gingham pattern is a classic preppy staple, but also super on trend this season. And it has POCKETS! Seriously y’all- who doesn’t love a dress with pockets?
Also, how precious is this bow detail in the back? It might be one of my favorite things about the Brooke Dress.
Good news- although the Lauren James Brooke Dress is no longer available in light blue gingham, it IS available in navy gingham and red gingham. Plus it’s currently on sale for $32! Click here to check it out!
Summer Picnic Ready
I styled this Lauren James gingham dress with my Kate Spade strawberry mini pendant. This combination screams “summer picnic!” In addition, it gives a patriotic red, white, & blue vibe. I actually have something else picked out to wear for the 4th of July next week, but this ensemble would be totally appropriate if I didn’t.
Good news- this necklace is currently on sale from the Kate Spade website, AND you can save an additional 30% through July 5 with code BIGBIGBIG! Click here to check it out.
Kendra Scott Ellie Studs
I added these basic ivory mother of pearl Kendra Scott Ellie studs to my collection during an earring sale earlier this month. They are so simple but elegant, and go with everything. I decided to go for the rose gold setting. Also, I feel like these Ellie studs complement my Kendra Scott ivory mother of pearl Elisa pendant nicely without being too matchy-matchy. I’ve already lost track of how many times I’ve worn these!
Outfit Details Round-Up
Dress: Lauren James // Necklace: Kate Spade // Earrings: Kendra Scott // Shoes: Tory Burch // Sunnies: Kate Spade (similar) // Bracelet: Bourbon & Boweties // Watch: Kate Spade (similar)
Frolicking in the Fields
At the end of the shoot, I put my Lilly Pulitzer floppy hat on and we took some fun shots of me twirling in the cornfield.
You can’t tell in this picture, but I swapped my Kate Spade strawberry necklace out for my Kendra Scott Elisa Pendant. I will be doing another post in the near future where I show how to mix & match accessories to create different looks with the same dress. Stay tuned for that!
Hope y’all enjoyed this post and that it provided you with some fun summer styling inspiration for an easy gingham dress! Also, if you live in central North Carolina, then you definitely want to check out Maple View Farm. The ice cream is delicious, and the rustic country setting is so peaceful to enjoy while tantalizing your tastebuds. I 10/10 recommend going at sunset! My favorite flavors at Maple View are cookies & cream, chocolate chip cookie dough, and chocolate. Occasionally they will have a chocolate chocolate chip cookie dough, but they haven’t the past couple times I’ve been to Maple View.
Do you have any gingham in your closet? What is your favorite way to style gingham in the summer? I’d love to hear!
PS. I’d love for you to hang out with me on Instagram if you don’t already. I love connecting with readers on there.
