Happy Monday- hope y’all had a great weekend and are ready to tackle a new week. Last week I had the best time shooting with Amelia Cassar Photography around UNC-Chapel Hill. Today I’m super excited to share some photos from our session. I wore my new Lauren James Emmie Tank in Main Squeeze. This top is definitely becoming my closet’s main squeeze. Read on for some styling inspiration!

Lauren James Prints
Since its founding in 2013, Lauren James has been known for their Sweet Tees with fun preppy Southern designs, as well as seersucker skirts, dresses, and more. However, their Spring 2018 collection introduced some fun prints into the mix. As soon as I saw this “Main Squeeze” citrus print, it immediately went on my wishlist. If you’ve been following my blog and Instagram, you know I love a fruit motif. So when Lauren James had their online warehouse sale back in April, I added the Main Squeeze Emmie tank to my cart. (I have been debating whether to get a top or dress in Main Squeeze, but decided on a top because I felt that it would be easier to guess the correct size with a top.) By purchasing the Lauren James Emmie tank at same time as my warehouse sale goodies, I didn’t have to pay shipping charges.
I am so incredibly happy with my Lauren James Main Squeeze Emmie tank. It is true to size, and is light, airy, and flowy. Absolutely perfect for summer! I wore the Emmie tank with my Lauren James denim shorts (you might remember them from this post) for this shoot, but I also think it would look really good with white skinny jeans.
I paired my Lauren James pink seersucker headband with my Main Squeeze Emmie tank. This seersucker headband is one of my absolute favorite hair accessories. I also have it in navy and mint green seersucker. During seersucker season, I wear one of my Lauren James headbands at least once a week, and often more frequently. Although I like to wear them with my hair down, they are also great for when it’s been a few days since I’ve washed my hair and just want to do dry shampoo and a ponytail!
Two Handbag Options
I have had my Tory Burch Amanda hobo bag for over four years now and it is still in amazing condition. Tory Burch handbags are totally worth the investment in my opinion. I like how this one has a long shoulder strap, as well as two shorter straps that fit comfortably under my arm. The outer pocket with magnetic flap is great for keeping my keys easily accessible, and the interior has a zipper pocket as well as two open compartments. Although the Amanda hobo is no longer available, here’s a current great option from Tory Burch.
You may remember this pink seersucker Lilly Pulitzer clutch/shoulder bag from my March Favorites. I think this is a great handbag option to wear with my Lauren James Main Squeeze Emmie top if I want something lighter than my Tory Burch hobo.
I paired my Lilly Pulitzer orange slice bangle with this top. It was a gift with purchase from Lilly a few years ago. I also wore a couple of my Kate Spade idiom bangles, but took them off for this pic so y’all could see the details of the Lilly bangle more clearly.
My earrings are Kate Spade “Putting on the Ritz” studs. They are actually the first piece of Kate Spade I ever owned. My cousin gave these earrings to everyone in her bridal party for her December 2011 wedding, and we all wore them with our dresses. I found a pair of similar Kate Spade studs that are currently available here. All of my Kate Spade items have a new significance in the aftermath of her tragic suicide last week. I am proud to carry on her colorful legacy, but it is so sad that she is no longer with us. (For more of my reflections on Kate Spade’s death and legacy, click here.)
I loved my Kendra Scott Elisa Pendant I bought with my birthday discount a few months ago that I had to buy another color when Kendra Scott had a gift with purchase promo last month. My newest Elisa is platinum druzy with gold chain and setting. I love the Elisa Pendant because it literally goes with almost everything, including my Lauren James Emmie tank.
Tory Burch Sunnies
These Tory Burch sunnies are another epic TJ Maxx find. I’ve had them for about three and a half years now. The screw holding the arm on one side recently came loose, but I took them to the optical shop at Target and they fixed them free of charge. Yet another reason Target is amazing! I love the classic shape of these Tory Burch sunnies. I highly recommend checking out TJ Maxx, Saks Off Fifth, and Nordstrom Rack for designer sunglasses. It’s where I’ve gotten all of mine. But if you’re anxious to get your hands on a great pair of Tory Burch sunnies right now, I like these. They have a similar shape to the ones I’m wearing, and the tortoise frames will go with anything.
Love My Jacks
Classic platinum Jack Rogers Navajo sandals are the perfect complement to any summer outfit. I actually bought these on sale several years ago, but just now took them out of the box. My silver Jacks and gold Jacks I had had since 2011 and 2012 respectively finally bit the dust. I had been waiting to introduce these platinum Jacks into my sandal rotation after my gold and silver pairs finally saw their final days. You find platinum Jacks here. Starbucks: The Finishing Touch to Any Ensemble
I am that weird person who typically still gets hot drinks at Starbucks even in the middle of the summer. (Unless there’s a Starbucks Rewards promo for iced drinks.) But I had been curious about the Pink Drink, and decided to get the Ombre Pink Drink for this shoot. Did you know you can ask for a straw-less lid now for your iced drinks at Starbucks? While it’s hard for me to cut out straws completely, it’s nice when I’m able to take small steps to be more environmentally conscious. I think that Starbucks in hand is the PERFECT finishing touch to any outfit! Who agrees with me?!
I hope that y’all enjoyed this post and it gave y’all some summer styling inspiration. The Lauren James Emmie Tank is the perfect casual summer outfit, and I know I will be wearing it a lot over these next few months!
Have y’all bought any of the printed items from Lauren James this season? Although one of Lauren James’ mottos is “life is better in seersucker,” they sure have nailed the fun prints this season as well! Also, what is your favorite drink from Starbucks in the summer? Do you go for an iced drink, or do you typically still get a hot latte like me?
