Hey y’all-hope your week is great so far. We’re more than halfway to the weekend! I am super excited that it’s May because the weather is finally consistently warm, and summer is right around the corner. I can’t wait to be back at the beach later this month. It will be my first trip since Labor Day. Another reason I’m excited to welcome this new month is my favorite strawberry patch is finally open. Waller Family Farm on the outskirts of Durham is where I like to go strawberry picking. The patch usually opens in late April, but the uncharacteristically chilly weather we had through much of early spring in North Carolina slowed things down. Waller Farm officially opened yesterday, and I hope to go sometime this week. I will definitely make a trip next week though!

A Favorite Tradition
One of my traditions each year is to wear my Lilly Pulitzer Callahan shorts in the Creme Fraiche strawberry print when I go strawberry picking. These shorts are from Lilly’s Summer 2010 collection, but they are a classic that has held up well. I have worn them to Waller Farm the past five years, and this spring will make the sixth year. Farmer Mark definitely gets a kick out of them whenever I go picking. Here are some pictures of me styling my Creme Fraiche shorts while strawberry picking in years past.
Last year (2017) was the first year I had this Strawberry Vine Sweet Tee from Lauren James. It made the perfect addition to my strawberry picking wardrobe options.

Here’s how I styled my Lilly strawberry shorts in 2016:
As y’all can see, one of my favorite ways to style these shorts while strawberry picking is with a comfy and casual tee. This time around I wore my pink classic arch Clemson tee with the shorts. Also, in both these pics I’m wearing an orange nylon Tory Burch crossbody. It’s perfect for strawberry picking because it’s lightweight and doesn’t get in your way, and holds your phone, money, and small camera. I actually got this bag at a consignment shop several years ago, and unfortunately can’t find anything similar at the moment to link.
Also, if I come across any strawberry print shorts currently available, I will be sure to come back and link them here. My favorite strawberry accessory from a current line is this adorable mini pendant from Kate Spade. (You may remember it from my April Favorites post.) This Kate Spade strawberry design also comes in earrings, which are super cute as well.
Looking back at these pics and these mouth-watering berries is making me so ready for this year’s installment of strawberry picking. This truly is one of my favorite spring activities. Hopefully I will make it out there sometime in the next few days.
Do y’all usually go pick your own strawberries in the spring? If so, what is your favorite way to eat your freshly picked berries?
