Hey y’all! It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is this week and the Christmas season officially begins on Friday. Although I know someone people have been in hardcore Christmas mode ever since Halloween ended. For the most part, I’ve been savoring the last few weeks of fall, but I must admit that I am sipping a gingerbread latte and watching a Hallmark Christmas movie as I write this. Anyways, I’m sure that many of y’all will have at least one holiday party on your agenda at some point over the next several weeks. So today I’m sharing 10 dresses to wear to a Christmas party. I’ve found these at some of my favorite retailers, and I’m including both snappy casual and cocktail attire. I tried to include a variety of price points as well. Half of these dresses are under $100, and there’s even one under $50 at full retail price. Hope y’all find something you love!

Lauren James Mallory Dress
If you’ve been following my blog for awhile, then you know Lauren James is one of my favorite clothing brands. She recently released a new line of dresses that would be perfect for holiday parties. I think the Mallory Dress (available here) is a very versatile option. You could pair it with heels and a clutch for a cocktail attire event, or dress it down with flats for a more casual get-together. Also, the simple neckline is conducive to pretty much any style of necklace. So you could easily create multiple looks from the same dress. I’m also really loving the scalloped hem and exposed zipper detail.
Lauren James Plaid Dakota Dress
Another great Christmas party outfit option from Lauren James is her Plaid Dakota Dress (available here). This dress would be appropriate for any party with a snappy casual dress code. Plus the flannel is so cozy for a cold December night. Also, I love plaid because it’s very festive, yet doesn’t scream “Christmas” to the point where you couldn’t continue to wear it after the holiday season is over.
Draper James Plaid Ruffle Shoulder Dress
A couple weeks ago one of my friends sent me a picture of this plaid ruffle dress from Draper James that she ordered to wear to The Nutcracker ballet this year. I knew that had to share it with y’all because it’s too cute and would be perfect for any festive event this Christmas season. Also, Draper James is Reese Witherspoon’s Southern lifestyle brand, which makes me adore this dress even more. I love Reese (I talk like we’re on a first name basis, haha) because she played Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, and she’s the quintessential Southern belle.
Draper James Solid Flutter Dress
This vivid red flutter dress from Draper James (available here) is another solid option for any Christmas party, and I feel like it would work for both cocktail attire and more casual gatherings, depending on what shoes and accessories you wear. The red is super festive for the holiday season, but would be appropriate during other times of year as well.
J.Crew Factory Three-Quarter Sleeve Lace Shift Dress
I’m a sucker for anything with lace detail, and this three quarter sleeve lace shift dress from J.Crew Factory (available here) fits the bill. An LBD is perfect for a holiday party, and many other events as well. So you will definitely get some bang for your buck with this option on my dresses to wear to a Christmas party list, especially if you buy it now when it’s on sale for under $30! This dress also comes in navy and burgundy, and either one of those colors would also be great to wear to a Christmas party.
Crown & Ivy Bow Back Swing Dress
Last month I shared a little bit about my newfound love for Belk’s Crown & Ivy brand in this post. So naturally, I had to take a look and see what potential dresses to wear to a Christmas party Crown & Ivy offers. I am absolutely loving the festive plaid and bow back detail of this dress, and think it would be great for any “snappy casual” Christmas party. You can check it out for yourself here.
Old Navy Polka Dot Shift Dress
This red long-sleeved shift dress with black polka dots from Old Navy is a super festive and super budget friendly option among dresses to wear to a Christmas party. The basic silhouette flatters a variety of body types. You can also make this more casual or dressy based on which accessories you choose.
Gap Long Sleeve Velvet Swing Dress
I am loving the return of the velvet trend, and am glad it stuck around for at least one more season. This basic long sleeve velvet swing dress from The Gap is a fabulous option for a casual holiday party that you can still wear throughout the winter. The green color is especially festive! You can view all color options here.
Lilly Pulitzer Kayleigh Shift Dress
I featured this dress in my recent round-up of my favorite currently available Lilly Pulitzer items. But the Kayleigh dress (available here) would be so perfect for a Christmas cocktail party I had to share it again. I’m loving the lace overlay detail and the ties at the shoulder. The evergreen color is so Christmas-y too. This particular dress is definitely more of a splurge, but it’s absolutely gorgeous.
J.Crew Mixed Lace Cap-Sleeve Ruffle Dress
I am absolutely loving this gorgeous dress from J.Crew for a holiday cocktail party dress option. Of course I’m drawn to the lace detail. It comes in both red and green, as well as a few other colors. The ruffle detail at the shoulders and hem adds a nice touch too. You really can’t go wrong with this one!
I hope that y’all enjoyed this post and that it was helpful in providing inspiration for dresses to wear to a Christmas party. Have you decided what you’re wearing to various holiday events?
